How to Avoid Becoming a Worthless Sponsor
You have just started an internet business, set up your affiliate website, read the training materials and are ready to start building a profitable online business. Now what do you do?
Simple. You start selling products and recruiting team members.
Easier said than done. But you are doing it. The checks are starting to come in! You have a downline. You are a leader!
But wait.... Is everyone as successful as you? Are you motivating your team to success? Do you know how to motivate people? Do you have a plan to communicate with your team? What does a leader do anyway?
First, here is an axiom: "Speed of the leader determines the speed of the pack."
Definition of axiom: [ak-see-uhm] –noun
1. a self-evident truth that requires no proof.
2. a universally accepted principle or rule.
3. Logic, Mathematics - a proposition that is assumed without proof for the sake of studying the consequences that follow from it.
Definition of leader: [lee-der] –noun
1. a person or thing that leads.
2. a guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement, or political group.
A good sponsor is a leader. Lead by example.
A good sponsor communicates. Start with an introductory email or telephone call to new members welcoming them and offering assistance, if desired. A good communicator uses multiple communication channels like email, telephone, skype, blog or chat. I use an autoresponder to send periodic information to team members. So I invite new members to subscribe to my mail list. It is a great way to broadcast important, time sensitive information.
Communications or the flow of information helps new team members shorten their learning curve so they can become successful from the start. Good leaders recognize that the typical cookie cutter approach to internet marketing does not work for everyone. Recognize that some members can handle large quantities of information (recommended tools, tricks and resources to "get the message" out). Others can become overwhelmed and fall victim to paralysis through analysis. In other words, afraid of starting until reading and understanding all material sent to them.
A good sponsor understands that everything they do to build their business should be and can be duplicated by their team members. For example, if Michael Dell decides to join a networking business, he should not give away Dell computers as an incentive for people to sign up under him. Why? Because it cannot be duplicated.
Be a good sponsor; it can be duplicated.

May 12th 2011 at 3:43 AM by learntoprofitonline Great advice Glen. A sponsor has the responsibility to help and train those they sponsor. Being a leader means being an example for others to follow.

Nov 30th 2010 at 4:11 AM by fredds Communication, as you have noted, is key to being a successful sponsor. Like you said in the article. A good sponsor should understand that everything he/she does to build their business should be and can be duplicated by their team members. It follows then that the biggest responsibility of the sponsor is to teach and make sure that all his/her team members are able to pass on down this ability to duplicate to all the respective team members/downlines

You make me proud to see that we have people like you.
