Germany’s Oktoberfest hands down one of the most celebrated festivals in the world. There is so much said about this festival, from dress code to beer brands, drinking and dances to colorful parades.

It is a massive crowd puller festival which attracts an average of around six million visitors a year who consumes almost seven million liters of beers. Why in September?

The first Oktoberfest was held in Oktober1810 and was a celebration of the wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. All of Munich was invited to eat and drink for five days. The celebration was a success and thus, decided to do it every year. Further, they extended the celebration to suit the weather condition.

Is it possible to attend the Oktoberfest without a reservation?

There are 14 main beer tents in which each of them has its own offerings. Schottenhamel is the oldest and the largest one which accommodates 10,000 seats. Augustiner is one of the friendly among travelers and Hofbräu Tent is the most preferred among foreigners. It is pretty tough to declare the best among them as everyone has their own favorite whereas in Bavarian, it is a matter of strong debate.

Though entry is free, further you will need euros for fun things. It is expected to bring 50 euros per day. You will ask to pay 15 euros per meal and 5 euros for a snack. So, fill your pockets before moving here.
