What Do I Get from Listening to Others?
I am going to repeat that question: What DO I get from listening to others? Well, a very simplistic answer is, "It depends on what they are saying." Very true! That is why I try to choose what I going to listen to before I listen, so that I will be ready for personal growth when the information is received.
How do I measure personal growth? Thoughts, ideas and concepts that impact my inner self--my inner spirit. I like a message that adds value to my life, improve my self-worth and "tickle" my imagination. Surface thinking does nothing for me.
Why is such a topic essential to one's being? It is essential because we are bombarded constantly with what I refer to as "noise." My Mom taught me that "an empty wagon makes a lot of noise." You hear it, it's there, but it has nothing inside. Who likes a wagon full of nothing? I equate that with a person talking and saying nothing, so why should I listen? Why should I spend my time on nothing?
In a world of constant communication, I choose carefully what I allow IN my thoughts because I do not wish to waste time removing it FROM my thoughts. I look for messages that help me develop the three P's--patience, persistence and perseverance, and avoid those that advocate the three C's--criticism, complaint and control. That is why I tune-in to a message like this one by Jonathan Budd.
It is entitled: Warrior Training: Cultivate ‘Inner Reflection’ & End Unconsious Reactions. (true life mastery)It is a bit long, but makes several life-changing thoughts and suggestions. See if you agree. Go to:
