The Importance of Linking-In
I do a lot of surfing, reading, and learning how to connect with people as one individual to another. I enjoy making a "new friend," whether online, or offline. There is something warm, fuzzy, and cuddly about reaching out to someone who REALLY cares, and someone you can care about. The world is full of what I refer to as "gimme people"-- people who only see your face as one big "dollar sign." Usually, these people are shallow and selfish. Their first thought after meeting someone is, "What can they do for ME?" I tend to shy away from those people--and let the experience help me to NOT become ONE of them!
NO lecturing, I promise! I used the above paragraph to lead into a video that I watched on Youtube. I went there because I connected with a guy called Kevin Knebl. Kevin invited me to look at his profile as well an an intro message. It was great! The message led me to the video.
LinkedIn is a super place to do business--the most influential site in the world for doing business. You find "movers and shakers' on LinkedIn, but Kevin makes the point that "relationship building" should be the first order of business--even on LinkedIn! Why? Most people like to work with people whom they know and trust, and this takes time to build. A real turn-off is the person who says after meeting someone for the first time, "Hi, My name is _____, and I have this super business you should get into." How do you KNOW this person should get into it? YOU don't know this PERSON! Enough of Mamie--listen to Kevin:

I will end by saying, learn to:
Connect with strangers by building positive relationships.
It's not about numbers, it's about people.
Give value--share the humane side of yourself, and business will follow.

Jun 29th 2011 at 9:34 AM by judycook4 Hi: I ready your article and I agree with you that it's about getting to know, like, and trust people. We have to give good value. We have to share the human side of ourselves.
would it be OK if I shared a free recruiting tool with you for your primary business.
Have a great day.
