How To Add a Widget To Your Website

The first site that I placed my blog posts on was a shared site with Wordpress.  I did the work, and they made the money.  I have at least 25 to 30 blogposts and pages on that site . . .  and they all belong to Wordpress.  A few months ago I developed my own site and pay someone else to host it.  That is the way to go!

Ownership has made me seek ways to promote my blog.  Widgets are a neat way to do that.  There are numerous kinds of widgets: archive, blog stats, calendar, categories, meta, pages, RSS and many others.

A common widget is the one Google uses for advertisement.  You see them everyday as you surf the web.  These ads are produced by placing a small piece of code on the web page.  You do not need to understand the code; all you have to do is copy and paste it.  By utilizing widgets on your blog, you can provide your readers with an interactive experience, and get information that you want to see on a regular basis.

Many businesses use widgets to track visitors to their sites, and provide information on how they found the site.

Using a widget is very simplistic since all you have to do is copy and paste it on your site.  However, knowing where to place it can be challenging.  It is for this reason that walking you through the process maybe helpful.  Let's visit a classroom:
