The best free antivirus software is Avira
As a long-time computer user, both as a professional system administrator as well as an entrepreneur, webmaster and home user, I have used almost every antivirus software over the years, both commercial and free, and I have come to the conclusion that Avira Free Antivirus is the best, whether considering free or subscription. In the past, I have used AVG, as well as both Norton and McAfee, but Avira has never failed me. At one time I used AVG, and thought highly of it, but it failed to protect me from the MS Antivirus virus, as well as the Melissa virus.
As a free product, with both automatic and on-demand updates, Avira is great, and, of course, the best part is that it's free. Other software, as shown with prices, includes:
Norton (Symantic) 360 $40.00
Webroot $39.95 - $79/95
Trend Micro $39.95
McAfee $49.99 - $99.99
Kaspersky $53.97
Avast $19.99 - $39.99
Sophos $107,25
Eset NOD32 $59.99
While these products are effective, they do not beat the free Avira. Why pay between $40 to $107 when Avira is equally effective and free. Get it from http://avira.com
