Well, my 2nd favorite thing is what I\'m doing..working, and learning about working online...but it\'s no comparison to a good day of Bass Fishing! I love the challenge it provides, and the relaxation of just being on the water, or even fishing from the bank. Yeah it is kinda like work sometimes...but good work!! Heh.
Uh...I guess you'll figure out I'm a squirrel person too....when BH was alive she was the bestus friend I could ever ask for....so smart, and so easy going for a wild animal. Had the privilege of caring for her almost 6 years. I buried her in the woods this past January... and miss her terribly. She would have been well liked here, just as she was on other sites.

Simple Ideas to Fight Depression

Jan 18th 2011 at 6:42 AM

Ok, what would be the opposite of depressed? Happy? Don't really think so...I mean there are plenty of times I'm not particularly happy, but not depressed either. Maybe content? That fits a little better. I can be content without being happy.
Contentment is being satisfied with your present state. It's not having what you want, but wanting what you have. Under that definition I am not content in my present situation, but can do little at this time to change it. But, I don't have to let it overwhelm me either. That is where it comes in handy to have ways to fight back.
The winter time is a particularly hard time to fight depression,....lack of sunshine, warmth, being able to do as much outside, unless you are prone to loving cold weather, which I myself am not. But I can still go for walks, watch my little squirrel buddies, anything to keep from letting myself settle into the winter blues. I also work online, a lot in the winter. I use a full spectrum light for more sunshine...not as warm, but it does perk me up better than just a regular old light bulb.
I also cut back on TV...now you say isn't working on the computer the same? No...at least on the computer you are active, you are thinking on something other than what may be bothering you. Plus, especially in these days, I can talk, chat, with friends and family. Can't do that on TV...not yet anyways. And I can even try to find ways to make a little money here and there, and that always seems to cheer me up some, being unemployed.
If you have access to an area like a workshop, building things can always be helpful, no matter what time of year, but more so in the winter. Just make sure you have a way to keep warm! but if you enjoy woodworking, metal, working on electronics, whatever can keep you busy. Plus even here, you can turn a hobby into some cash. Make some good items and sell them. If you are handy with electronics, and have the tools...repair things for other folks.
Im not saying the money will help you fight depression, it's just a side benefit. Do it for free if ya like, I've just learned in this present economy every little bit helps. Less to be worried over.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, yes, this is the way I write. As it comes to me. Always been that way...no particular order..like life..heh.
Do you draw, or paint? Enjoy cooking? Doing puzzles? There are countless ways to stay busy, that won't cost you a fortune, if anything.

Actually these are some fantastic ways to help anyone with clinical depression (most severe form of depression) as well. The idea is to be productive and you hit the nail right on the head. Thanks for sharing. Kindest regards, Dave
