Sending unsolicited links in Private Messages is spam

Feb 11th 2011 at 6:10 PM

A member sent me an unsolicited link in a Private Message.

I told him I don't want any unsolicited links.

IMfaceplate has put a clear message about that when we want to write something on a member's face.

Serious marketers don't use spam. They take the time tu build relationships.

If you wish to talk about your opporrtunities, the proper way to do so is with articles, spotlights, shouts, ads, and promoting using your credits.

The member told me it's for the site owners to decide what is spam.

That's not the case. Many countries agree an unsolicited link is not welcome.

Imagine, I have more than 500 followers here. If they all started sending me spam messages, how could I consider one more than any other ?

Write good headlines that will get the attention of other members. That's the way to do things.

In a party, if you started giving your business card right after people you've never met responded when you say "hi", you'd be thrown out within 5 minutes.

Philippe, thankyou for this article on spam. I notice that there are more of these message appearing all the time, and I have no problem with blocking these foolish people.Like your party analogy, just throw them out!
