When 2011 started, I said it would be my year of focus. One of the things I hadn't decided yet was about choosing my main blog, as I have several. Well, the RevPage title says it all.

  1. A work in progress
  2. The ultimate way of branding myself
  3. Online marketing, business thinking, marketing your writing, video marketing, quotes, funny stories
  4. A page with pictures of my friends and links to their blogs
  5. A page about what I recommend, a page with the testimonials I received at APSense

As some of you know, I created a newsletter called the APSense Insider. When you subscribe, you receive emails about the articles I wrote at APSense because they are not accessible easily, only the recent ones are. Since I keep writing several articles a week, I had found the newsletter was a good way to find more readers.

The problem with the APSense Insider is, well, the target audience can only be APSense members. One would think that APSense is well known outside, but it's not necessarily. I discovered it the hard way a few months ago, when I wrote a sales page for the APSense Guide Pro. I went to the Warrior Forum to ask recommendations on improvements. I was taken by surprise by the number of comments, mostly civilized, some actually very good. The comment I saw the most was: "What is APSense? You don't talk about it on the page."

I discussed this with John Guanzon, the Thumbvu owner. He was my coach during that period, in February. I told him I might try to sell APSense on the page and the Insider at the same time. He told me it would be a hard sell. When you think about it, what John said is common sense.

For the past 2 months, I wasn't promoting my list very much. I still got new subscribers here and there, but I was more busy promoting all kinds of things to really take care of my list. I apologize to my subscribers.

I discussed recently with John again, and with other successful marketers. We all hear that "the money is in the list."

Well, I see things differently. I want to try something. I will continue to send emails to the APSense Insider subscribers, of course. But I've had something in the back of my mind for a long time, and it's time I put the pedal to the metal.

I want to offer people the possibility of joining programs or buying products I recommend, but not necessarily by becoming subscribers to any list of mine. Being subscribers would have its advantages, of course. But the way I see it, Wal-Mart doesn't count only on its list of email subscribers to make sales. So, people reaching the PhilippeMoisan.net blog through other means than my ads and articles would also be able to see the "Recommended" page.

The blog is far from finished. The "friends' blogs" page will have many more blogs than it has right now. Same thing for the programs I recommend. The testimonials are not all there.

Let me know what you think of my project. I want my blog to become like a store, where you get information and products for free, as well as some that I sell as an affiliate or eventually as my own products.
