Forget about what excites you
Forget about what excites you.
Don't worry, this subject is not about adult content.
It's about an important point for a marketer: the buyer vs the seller mindset. Don't think about what you would buy. Think about what others would buy. See what excites other people.
This is critical in a text ad. Forget about yourself. About the words that get your attention in ads. They may or may not be what attracts other people to click on your ad.
Let me give you some pointers.
Don't use the site name
This is important if the site is new. Even more if the name doesn't give away its purpose in a second. Wiki-Clix is a perfect example. Not everyone knows what PTC means. Wiki-Clix is not a household name. Not yet anyway. :)
So, writing either "Wiki-Clix" or "PTC" in a text ad is a waste of characters. We don't want that, especially since we don't have many for the headline on some sites, like Traffic Ad Bar or many other TEs.
Check the competition
Make a headline that grabs by the throat. This is easier said than done. If you are not confident, use the seller mindset, which means, go see what others do. Look at other headlines. Which ones act like magnets for your eyes? Take notes. Don't copy word for word, especially if you want to put an ad on the same site.
Write for the man on the street
Don't write "PTC make money". Write "$0.03 per click". Of course, what you say must be true. Don't get discouraged too fast if your ad doesn't work. Cancel the campaign, create a new one. Testing and tweaking, that's the name of the game.
Don't put too much info
The people who are intrigued by your ad will take a look, they will want to know more.
Conclusion
I hope these hints can help you get more success with your text ads.
Just remember, forget about what excites you.
