Are You Really Listening To Your Mentor?

Oct 1st 2010 at 4:14 AM

There's a reason mentors would rather work with complete newbies than people who have experience. The reason is that complete newbies are blank canvasses and experienced people have to go through the process of un-learning all the useless crap they've learned over the years. After being online for a few years you can become hard headed, never mind the fact that you haven't made or are not bringing in a dime with all your wheel spinning online efforts.

Never mind the fact that you were fed up and went on a search for some guidance from a mentor that has been there and done that. Lets not think about the fact that your mentor is bringing in some cash on a consistant basis. We can even make ourselves believe that we can't afford the programs that our mentor's are involved in. We won't even make a list of our mentor's program's to see which ones are affordable, we're comfortable with our wrong assumptions.

This blog isn't about you, Its about ME, I was guilty of this mess and finally took the time to evaluate my position and came to the conclusion that I have to be open and willing to take advice from the person I asked for help in the first place. I also have to take into account that my mentor's time is not mine to waste. Time is money in this game. So the next time you want to complain about something in this industry, just take a walk over to the nearest mirror and complain to the person you see looking back at you.
