Is Modern Medicine Outdated?

Medicine is the science and art of healing humans. It includes a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.

I certainly realize that many of us have benefited greatly from modern medicine, but I also realize that many of us have been hurt greatly from it too. The challenge for all of us is to determine how we can make modern medicine more "scientific," more effective and safer. I have previously made clear that my own point of view on this subject is that we must develop a more "integrative model" of medicine and healing and that we should utilize various naturopathic and homeopathic methods as a way to honor the Hippocratic tradition of "First, do no harm."

Americans pay, by far, the highest fees in the world for health care services, and yet we simultaneously suffer the highest rates of degenerative disease in the world. Conventional cancer treatments, which essentially involve varying degrees of poisoning patients with either toxic chemicals or deadly radiation, have barely altered the survival rates for cancer in three decades. Heart disease rates continue to rise, diabetes is now an epidemic, and yet the drug companies, mass media and FDA increasingly promote new fictitious diseases in the hopes that they can sell even more dangerous prescription medications to people who actually don't need them.

Today in America, every man, woman, and child is prescribed around 13 prescription drugs per year (and this doesn't count the many over-the-counter drugs that doctors prescribe and that patients take on their own) (Kaiser, 2006). Just 12 years earlier, Americans were on average prescribed less than eight drugs per person, a 62 percent increase! The fact of the matter is that drugs are not tested for approval in conjunction with other drugs, and the safety and efficacy of the use of multiple drugs together remains totally unknown.

This practice of "polypharmacy" is increasing substantially, and Big Pharma is pushing it hard and benefiting from it in a big big way.

Adverse drug effects is a leading cause of dead in United States and that adverse reactions to prescription drugs are responsible for more than 300,000 deaths a year.

In fact, the pushers of conventional medicine still believe that the mind has no health impact on the body -- a belief that was considered modern in the 1870's, but today, in 2007, it's downright antiquated.

Modern medicine believes that when there is a disease or dysfunction in the body a pill can be given to treat that particular disease. What they now know is that the body is not like an assembly line ( A>B>C>D>E) and when you take a pill for one thing it is affecting many other parts of the body (see photo below). And that is why when you get a prescription you get a long list of negative side effects that pills cause even up to including death.

Current medical doctors are caught between an intellectual rock and a corporate hard place; they are pawns in the huge medical industrial complex. Their healing abilities are hobbled by an archaic medical education founded on a Newtonian, matter-only universe. Unfortunately, that philosophy went out of vogue seventy-five years ago, when physicists recognized that the universe is actually made out of energy.

We still have a lot to learn about life, medicine, and healing but we need to approach these things with an open, inquisitive mind. For example:

                1)  Disease cannot take hold in an alkaline body. An alkalizing diet, way of living, and removal of negative emotions/beliefs can prevent and reverse disease. But don't expect this to be endorsed by orthodox medicine – there's no profit in it.

                2)  The acidity or acid/alkaline balance of the blood is measured by pH, the potential of Hydrogen, see (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PH) and is a very important marker for good health. The blood will do all it can to keep its pH at 7.365, or slightly alkaline. It will even strip alkaline reserves like calcium from the bones to buffer a rise in acidity. (This can lead to a condition labeled by modern medicine as osteoporosis.)

                3)  Healing modalities are based on the belief that energy fields are influential in controlling physiology and our health.

                4) Research is showing that energy is a more efficient means of affecting matter than chemicals.

Can maintaining or regaining your health be as simple changing what you put into your body (including your diet and your thoughts) and using an energy modality such as EFT, emotion code, and others to erase your past negative emotions? According to the science of Quantum Physics yes it is that simple.

Hello from Montana, Thanks for the informative article. I come from a long line of energy healers and my great grandmother was an herb doctor to the tribes in Arizona. How I would love to have her diaries. jhw

I agree with the first part of your article and many allopathic practitioners are now adding natural approaches to their practices. It is all about balance. Todays toxic lifestyle causes many diseases, diabetes being one of them. My advice is: 1. Exercise 2. Eat healthy food with fresh fruit and vegetables 3. Care for others and finally 4. Care for yourself

Thank you legalgifting for your powerful comments. I encourage everyone to take control of their own health no matter which path they choose to take.

The body heals itself when you give it the necessary nutrients. I have cured many illnesses with my mind. More people should have the courage to take control of their health instead of blindly putting their life into hands of an allopathic medical system.
