I was inspired in creating that group because I just received an email that said in the title "Is this the most valuable skill on the internet".

It's a subject that has been in the back of my mind since I started dreaming of making money on the Internet to become financially independent.

I saw the usual recommendations : create a product, sell other people products, consider dropshipping, create CDs, DVDs, work hard, work smart, get into JVs, write articles, build a list, video is now the best tool, etc...

All that time, from September 2009 to January 2010, I was buying product after product, cause, oh yeah, I need that one because it's the final thing I need to start having success.

At some point, I read somewhere that a good idea is to sell services, like freelance writer, copywriting, creating blogs, websites, coaching, creating webinars, and other opportunities.

I know many people will say that building relationships is key. And I believe that.

But, what are the other skills that one can develop that will insure his/her future on the Internet ?

One other skill that is absolutely essential for long term success : common sense.

It encompasses : setting priorities, planning, spending money wisely, time management, stop distractions ( a tough one for me ), studying, learning, patience, determination, not taking oneself too seriously, helping others without having expectations, taking the time to think, keep smiling :)

I'm sure I forgot other important aspects. Feel free to add your own ideas. Learning is a daily process for me.

Philippe

Might this assist you?

My 1st thought was the change something that you've implied; yet, with a quick inner flashback of how to conduct myself. That instantly converted to comment on a Crucial Point of Interest that you've Open for Discussion.

That Being in your words: "stop distractions ( a tough one for me )"... To attempt to do so when [you give it some more thought is a wasted process of precious energies]. Would you, would anybody, would I consider a process that allows those things outside of our immediate command and control to continue. All the while, Focusing >A Progression Learned Skill of Applicable Grade<

... Applicable Grade refers to the similarity with an exercise regiment and our expectations it being easier ot operate in. The better you maintain your diligence in what you're about _ even though the distraction may remain visual, or even a mental impression, et cetera the priority focus will Absolutely Override it! Any distraction both in and on Earth! That's a Guarantee! Not from me. Remember, I'm flesh and blood just like the rest of us! However, One did take on our likeness and fulfill that Absolute Archetype that we thrive for. It obtainable! How much better do you Need to thrive for it? Faith and Activities in what He Alone Did and Say along with following His said Archetype example. With that mindset all things are Truly possible... To become better day-by-day-by-day is the Only way to get there. >>> … there's more however, this may be a Great Launching Point and Judge your own Results.

I stress UNITY because, I understand it...
Unity may be seen as a Prime “Agility-Skill”. An Ultimate Skill! Bringing in balance every necessary talent that has been working. Unity isn't to be Mistakenly thought of as the Quick-Fix Skill or Exit Strategy! The crib-notes if you will. It Doesn't Exist in that manner, Ever! Deeds or Works Must answer the areas of fulfillment that show who is who. Take you body. When one part is lacking, the remaining healthier component suffer as the entire body shows the evidence of a lack of collective unity. Yet, because of Unity our body will attempt to bear up the ill portion, until that portion of the body brings up to par or better its place in the body. [Presented as an example for educational purposes only.] .

Hello, Philippe:

I would say that Communication Skills are high on the list of valuable skills in Internet Marketing. Communication skills can include writing, speaking, listening, even graphic design or web page design.

You can have a great product, or a great looking website, but somewhere in the process, you need to communicate your message in an appealing and effective way.

Since Social Networking is such a big part of Internet Marketing, we need to be able to communicate clearly with our prospects and our marketing partners.

GT :-)

Hey, GT, gratz for another top discussion!

I'd say the top needed skills are patience, motivation and, as said before, common-sense. Communication, maybe...it doesn't suit me well though. But it's just my style of making money online. I don't rely on "come-backs", i don't flood anyone's mail-box with Clickbanks products...i mean, i don't use mailing-lists.

Oh well...Patience: to find your own style of online money making; while researching for the next big thing/places to advertise on; to see where you can promote what you want to promote without having to compete with someone else's ad, at the same given time...

Motivation: Why are you here? Why are you trying to make money online? What are your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly objectives? Do you really like your "real world" job? The effort you'll put towards your online money making job, will it be the same or higher than the one you put towards your "real" job? Are you happy to go out on a rainy, or snowy, because you must go to work, leaving your family at home? Are you happy to stay at least 9 hours a day, away from your home, doing something that
probably you hate doing, when you could spend it at home?...

Common-sense: It's just that...not everything that shines is gold nor everything that swims are fish...whales are mammals, ahah!

Most valuable Skills in IM. . .
Think about it for just a moment.
What or How would You like to be approached?
Skill number 1 is Education on the industry you are about to Invest Your most valuable asset = your time.
Here is a free generic e Book to learn how to succeed and more important how to become scam proof. http://tinyurl.com/juditsgift

Skill number 2 is Honesty & Integrity.
When you are honest with integrity you will do to and for others what you want others to do to and for you, help and be there for you.

I know, we all say that building relationship is the most valuable skill and they are RIGHT!
To be able to build relationships you must be honest and have Integrity, otherwise the relations will be very short.
People feel if not at first than soon enough when someone is hiding an agenda by approaching them.

Blessings of Abundance

Hi Judit - I agree. But I would say the valuable skill is discernment. Over the years, I have looked at thousands of offers and know what to look for. If you look at my faceplate, you'll see that I only deal with 3 TE's for instance. Take care and god bless.

My brother, your statement "Learning is a daily process for me," I wholeheartedly believe is they key to anything. Whatever it is in life you truly love will always be something you are learning. Life itself is a constant learning process. You might even find, as I have, that IM is not even really your thing, but yet you are learning things that somehow are applicable to your life in some strange way. The most important things, my brother, are keeping an open, new mind as this is the only way you can really learn, staying true to yourself and ALWAYS putting others before yourself. Don't put them first because you want something, but out of selfless LOVE. I realize you have touched on these things in your post, but I feel it is important to always keep these things in your heart and mind. Again, the most important thing is that you LOVE. All the money, things, whatever are nothing if you do not LOVE. You might even find that with LOVE, you stop desiring these things. Now that is true success, my brother!

Shalom [+]
