Real Internet Income

What does “Real Internet Income” mean to you?

For some people, real Internet income is simply doing enough online marketing to earn enough money to cover the costs of doing it and make a few dollars above that. For some people, that is a thrill and a real achievement.

For other people, the income is not real until they are earning hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars a month. Fewer people are doing this. It takes some clear goal-setting and real planning and effort to make it happen, but it is possible for those who can focus, commit, and stick with it until they achieve the goal.

For me, my Internet income goals have changed since I first began. In the beginning, I was definitely in the first category where I wasn’t even thinking about covering the costs of marketing – all I wanted was to make a few sales here and there simply to prove to myself that it was possible.

Once I achieved that goal, I then set my sights on making enough to cover the costs, plus a little more on top of that.

Today, my goal is to get into that “thousands per month” category. Now that I am more experienced and am seeing the rewards of my earlier focus, dedication and diligence, getting into that upper category is what defines the term “real Internet income” for me.

What about you? Please share your thoughts and experiences on this fascinating topic.

Here are a few of the ways I am earning real Internet income:

- Direct Sales: I am an affiliate for a few products or companies where I earn a one-time commission on sales.

- Residual Income: I am an affiliate for a few products or companies where I earn recurring monthly commissions on ongoing services my customers have subscribed to.

- Network Sales Commissions: I earn direct commissions on purchases made by members of my network marketing team in the primary Affiliate Marketing program that I actively promote (SFI).

- Group Volume Bonuses: I earn bonuses based on the group volume created by my team members in the aforementioned Affiliate Marketing program.

- AdSense Ads: I earn a small amount regularly from AdSense ads on my websites.

Over the past year, my Affiliate Marketing income has been gradually increasing. That is because I made a firm commitment a year ago to build the business and to focus on the business.

There are many ways to earn real Internet income online. All you need to do is research the ways, choose a few to develop, create a plan of action and then commit to it!

I have mentioned that one way I earn real Internet income is through sales of commissionable products supplied by affiliate marketing companies. A few of these products are listed through ClickBank (a place where vendors list their products and marketers can select and choose products to market and sell to earn sales commissions).

Here is an example of persistence. I had been advertising and promoting products from ClickBank for several years before I received my FIRST commission payment from them. They have certain requirements you have to meet before you qualify to receive any accumulated commissions and since my sales volume was low, it took me a LONG time to qualify!

The truly annoying thing was that if your account is inactive for a period of time, they start deducting service charges. Well, I hadn't sold anything for some time, so they started deducting monthly service charges and ended up taking all of the commissions I had earned up to that point! They had the right to do that, but I didn't (and still don't) think it is fair.

Anyway, eventually I started promoting some of the products a little more aggressively and finally met the qualifications to begin receiving my commissions before they once again ate them all up!

Since then, I have been receiving commission cheques with real Internet income every couple of months. I could have become frustrated with ClickBank and stopped promoting products from there, but I refocused, persisted, worked harder at it, and now I am being rewarded.

The best OFFLINE income success I have had with a marketing plan was a number of years ago with a particular Network Marketing company (no longer around) that had an awesome compensation plan.

I joined that company as an independent representative for two main reasons: First, I was invited by a well know, very successful businessman; Second, I had never seen a compensation plan like that and I could see the power in it.

I earned above-average income with that company for about five years before market challenges caused the company to slide and then fade away.

I have been looking to duplicate that success online for the past few years, but I have not found a compensation plan that excites me the way that one did back then.

However, a few years ago I did join an online Network Marketing company and I have been focusing on this company over the past year. The compensation plan is "unique" and not at all like most traditional networking plans. In fact, many people find it confusing at first and difficult to explain!

On the other hand, the marketing part of the plan is straightforward and simple and (in my opinion) is better than most for a variety of reasons, so if a member can get over the frustration of learning how you actually get paid (LOL) in the networking part of the plan, then they will see the strength of the overall plan and of the company and will become excited.

I have been earning real Internet income from this company every month.

There are two schools of thought on Internet Marketing success and generating real Internet income.

~ One school says to put all of your eggs in one basket and watch that basket! In other words, choose a marketing plan or a market niche and focus exclusively on building it.

~ The other school of thought says to diversify your interests so that you are covered if one of them slows down or fails. In this instance, you might promote a couple of affiliate opportunities and products from a couple of different affiliate companies.

Which school you follow will depend on your current abilities and level of experience, and your confidence in your ability to successfully handle several different opportunities at one time. Too many people try to take on too much and they end up never truly enjoying success with one opportunity.

Make a choice and then commit to it.

Further to my previous comment, I still hold to the "diversify your marketing interests" school of thought, but I have tightened up the focus over the past year or two.

I have one primary Affiliate Marketing program that I focus on (SFI); one primary niche-related line of products I promote(personal development); and a few other affiliate products and membership services that I mention occasionally.

And I have been making more money online over the past year than I had been making before. It is real Internet income and as my marketing skills improve, so does my monthly income.

I have always tried to be honest and direct, so I will admit that the level of income is nowhere close to my goals, but I am seeing progress. I attribute that to a tighter focus on fewer things.

I became an Internet Marketer by accident.

Offline, I am a home-based freelance writer. One day, several years ago, I decided it was time to get connected on the Internet and start checking out freelance writing markets online.

Well, I somehow stumbled into an Affiliate Marketing program that offered real Internet income and I joined it. That lead from one opportunity to another over the next several years as I sought the "easy" way to make money online.

Eventually, I realized there was no easy way. It required vision, focus, commitment, effort and patience.

The funny thing is that my journey brought me full circle back to that very first Affiliate Program (which I had since abandoned, looking for an easier way). Now I am focusing on it and making more money with it than I have made with any other program online. That's real Internet income that I am talking about.

Does it take money to make money in Internet Marketing? In other words, do you have to invest money in your business before you can earn real Internet income?

Not necessarily.

The Internet has made it easy to start and run a business online without investing any money into it. There are many free services, plus services such as training, marketing resources, etc., provided free by the affiliate company you promote. You can market online, generate sales and earn commissions without spending anything more than your valuable time and energy.

However . . .

The speed of your success doing it the free way will depend on the amount of marketing (selling) skill and/or experience you have. The more experience and skill, the faster you will succeed. The less experience and skill, the longer it is going to take.

That is why many marketers CHOOSE to invest in their business in the beginning: it is to speed up the process.

You can invest in training to learn and develop your marketing knowledge and skills.

You can invest in a domain name, a professional website theme and website hosting to help establish your presence and brand as a serious marketer.

You can invest in advertising to reach more of the targeted prospects you want, faster. (Faster than free advertising methods.)

In fact, if you truly desire personal success, and if you believe in your vision for financial success, and if you are determined to succeed as fast as possible, you WILL invest in your business.

Really, it is an investment in yourself and in your financial future.

Real Internet income awaits you: what are you waiting for? Go out and GET it!

Real Internet Income

Two ways to earn it:

1. Direct Sales: You sell things (yours or other peoples' products) and you earn direct sales commissions. That's it: one sale, one commission. (Possibly residual sales from the same customer, as in monthly subscriptions, or follow-up products.)

2. Network Marketing: You become an affiliate or an independent salesperson for a company; you earn direct commissions on sales you make; you also recruit other affiliates and you earn either indirect commissions from sales THEY make, or you earn group volume bonuses based on the sales volume or activity of your network sales team.

In my quest to earn a steady source of real Internet income, I have reviewed many opportunities, tried a number of them and rejected many after realizing that I didn't feel comfortable with the either the product line, the marketing plan or something about the company.

Although one principle I have always believed in and have promoted is the idea of focus and loyalty to one primary marketing plan, I do also accept the value in diversifying your income sources. The key thing is still to choose one primary marketing plan to focus on instead of trying to promote a whole range of plans.

So, some of the ways I am earning real Internet income still include:

~ Direct sales commissions from the sale of products or services I promote.

~ Affiliate income from the primary affiliate marketing company (SFI) that I focus on.

~ Residual income via ClickBank from the sale of affiliate products and services I have promoted.

~ AdSense ads revenue

~ Miscellaneous income from other online sources

In all honesty, I have some distance to go to reach my monthly Internet income goal, but I am steadily making progress and when I compare it to where I was a couple of years ago, I am surprised and pleased!

Real Internet income IS possible! :-)
