Why Do People Travel?

Travel today is constant, with people looking to go here, there and everywhere, for many and varied reasons.  They want to go to exotic places, to laze in the sun, to relax and be pampered.  They work hard all year and want to take full advantage of their vacation time to unwind and recharge their batteries.           

People travel for business more and more, so they can connect with clients face to face. They travel to Conferences and Conventions around the globe, often extending their business trip for a few extra days of leisure while they are there.

Many people travel to special family occasions and celebrations like Weddings, Reunions, Christmas gatherings and special holidays. They also like their annual family vacation.

Then there are the "extra special" travel times, when you want to go to a Concert of your favorite singer, musician or other live show. Fans gather at these events from all over the globe.  Often going from one to another.

Major Sporting Events are another reason for travel. Some of these events are huge, like World Championships for a vast number of sports, Olympics, summer and winter, and the likes of the Tour De France that has just been completed.  I watched it on television and really enjoyed watching the scenery around France.  Did that make me want to go there? You bet!!  These events have competitors from all over the world and their families, friends and supporters want to be there to watch live and show their support.

Another reason for people travelling, is for the sheer pleasure and leisure of it.  For the younger generation it is often referred to as the "BIG O.E." (overseas experience). They like to travel and see as much of the world before settling into a career or maybe life before having a family to take care of, which we all know can restrict your travelling experiences.

At the other end of this group are the retirees.  They may have saved their pennies for many years looking to have their trip of a lifetime when they retire, and deservedly so!!  These travellers want to seek out new places, see sights and have adventures, discover different cultures and meet new people.  They enjoy new experiences and making new friends.

A wonderful way to have a really relaxing vacation and also have everything laid on for you is a Cruise.

There are many to choose from and you can visit several different countries without having to change your accommodation or transport.  Unpack once and enjoy your floating hotel.       

Travel these days is much easier to do than days past, but the cost of doing it has increased dramatically, putting it out of reach for many, particularly those with families. So, many travellers are looking for discounted vacation packages and vacation resorts where they can enjoy having everything taken care of for them, and also where the children are catered for. 

For these reasons more and more people are joining travel and vacation clubs.  Although you initially pay a membership fee for a club, you can quickly recoup that cost by saving thousands of dollars on your travel, you might even do it with just one vacation. This then allows you to take more vacations.

Look around for a reputable travel and vacation club with integrity. The opportunity also exists with some of these clubs, to earn an income as a member, if you so desire, which can make your vacations even cheaper.

I'm sure you can see by now just how huge the travel industry is. For all of the above reasons there are literally millions of people travelling every year, accounting for an 8 trillion dollar industry, which is expected to double in 5 years. 

EVERYONE WANTS TO TRAVEL !! If you watch game shows, lottery draws etc on television, the No. 1 thing people want to do with their winnings is TRAVEL.
