Getting the most from IM faceplate is really quite easy

Aug 6th 2010 at 11:35 AM

There's definitely a LOT of great features in IM faceplate and if used correctly, this will be one of your most valuable online resources ...

... but how do you get the most from IM faceplate?

The one thing that almost everyone here has in common is that we are all VERY BUSY!

This means that you probably don't have an extra 6 hours a day to fumble around ... am I right?

So, let's discuss the ways you can get the most from IM faceplate without devoting a huge chunk of your day.

Now, before we get into it, we need to make sure that you understand exactly 'what' IM faceplate is all about.

Simply stated, IM faceplate is a community of like-minded people sharing their ideas, strategies, and experiences.  It is a place to meet people and develop relationships, both personal and professional.  It is a place to really let others know exactly what you are all about.

Keeping the above in mind, everything you do within IM faceplate WILL be seen as a reflection of YOU.  So, if you spam others with your links, you will be seen as nothing more than a spammer and people will ignore you.  The damage you can cause to your image is very hard to repair ... please keep that in mind.

NOW ... ON WITH THE GOOD STUFF!

Here are some really important ways to increase your exposure in IM faceplate.  Some of these things just take a minute or two but can really make a huge difference.

  1. Post in the discussions and groups.  Posting in the groups is a great way to get noticed because every post you make includes links back to your faceplate and also for people to send you a private message which could result in a new relationship being formed.  Just don't spam the groups (referral links are NOT allowed in the groups) because this will have a negative impact since everyone will now see that you are a spammer.

PRO BENEFIT:  every post you make includes a special box which contains a lot more information about you including your latest article post, plus your recent shout!  This is a powerful way to get your article and shout seen because every post you make stays in the groups and they will ALL have this box which updates automatically whenever you post a new article or shout something!

  2. Use the "shout" feature.  At the top of your faceplate is a little button to SHOUT something out to everyone.  This is a great way to send a quick message to your followers, but remember that they will likely unfollow you if you shout too often (like 5 times a day), so be carefull with this one.

PRO BENEFIT:  if you are a PRO member, then your shouts are also displayed in real-time on the ACTIVITY page for everyone in the network to see!  This gives you a ton more exposure than just within your immediate followers and is a great way to get more exposure back to your faceplate.  Again, make sure you find that balance and don't abuse the power of this tool or it will work against you.

  3. Add your interests!  In the "screen name" section of your faceplate editor, you can add your interests.  When people search the network, your interests are part of that search and so this is another great way to gain exposure for your faceplate.  It only takes a minute to do, and it could make a big difference!

  4. Follow people that you are interested in.  There are so many unique people inside IM faceplate with so much to offer.  Take some time to check out other people's faceplates and follow them if you like what you see.  Then, take a minute to post on their face if you like, but just don't spam them!  This is the quickest way to loose a potential contact and could even result in you losing your account.

  5. Write an article ... or two, or ten!  When you publish an article, you are actually publishing a web page that will get fully indexed by the search engines resulting in even more exposure back to you and your faceplate.  We will soon devote an entire help article just to the proper use of articles, so watch for that.

  6. Comment on other people's articles.  See an article that looks interresting?  Give it a read and then be sure to leave a genuine comment.  Remember, if your comment is lame (like, "Thanks for the article"), then the owner (or admin) will likely delete your comment and you have lost the benefit.  But if your comment is genuine, then you have just earned yourself another link back to your faceplate!

Although there are several other little things you can be doing as well, this covers the big areas where you need to focus right away.  As IM faceplate gets bigger over time, the value in establishing yourself NOW will become extremely clear.

Please leave your thoughts and comments below :)

I wonder how the video spotlights work. I'm a PRO member. I submitted a vid-spot "Save Lives and Get Paid for it.". But that's the last I've seen of it. How do I monitor it? What does sponsoring it mean? How many vid-spots may a PRO member post? How do I improve it's ranking? Sorry, but I couldn't find any of these answers in the help section.

I have been using social media for a couple of years now with mixed results. I have tried a variety of software programs to help manage posting, etc. Some have gotten me in trouble and others have been mediocre, at best! I have come to the conclusion that the best way to utilize the social media communisphere (I think I just coined a word! Maybe not!) is exactly as you outline in your article. Great job. I am really impressed with your IM faceplate program.

I'm most interestrd in optimizing my IM experiences and would appreciate getting some type of alert each time this type of article is publisked. M.

All I can say is WOW. I came across this site during my daily marketing chores and I have to say it has been the easiest I have had to set up, and not only that, before I had completed my profile and setting up the system I had people already following me. This was a pleasant surprise because in all the other sites I have signed up for it has taken a lot of work and an enormous amount of effort to build even a hand full of followers. This site is definitely going to bring me the notoriety and success I have been seeking for a number of years now. Thanks for a Brilliant community where marketers alike can share, explore and inform each other about experiences and successes they have encountered over the years. Looking forward to a long and trusting relationship. Many Thanks Leonine Easterbrook aka VoxyLady

First, I want to thank my fellow long time friend for sharing this great Network called: “IMFacePlate”. I am greatful to be apart of IMFacePlate, because it gives me the opportunity to brand myself. Second, I want to thank the ones who worked hard at putting IMFacePlate on the internet & to thank the administrators of ImFacePlate too. I applaud you. I am so lucky to start out here on the ground floor of ImFacePlate to start to brand myself, because I am one of your newer members here. I plan to use this platform to meet new people, share ideas, & learn from my fellow Faceplate friends, & have the opportunity to share my business opportunities. I would also like to say: The “Help” section is very helpful in letting me know that things I need to do to make my FacePlate the best it can be. Thank you once again. She is awesome!(caradiva) This site seems to have it all - features galore :o) Been on here a few days and already seems like one big family of friends and networkers. Love the atmosphere, the groups and seeing people in some of the same interests as mine. The help button has very useful info to get going with our own faceplate. Looking forward to meeting new friends and co workers. Enjoy!

Hats off to the creators and administrators of this site. You have designed a system that will enable anyone to build their business effectively, without going anywhere else. Search engines will love their sites if they do as you advise them to do. So far, I've had a ball setting up my site and have gotten clicks on my links, new prospects in my business and made a host of new friends. What more can one ask for? I plan on using my IM Faceplate to the maximum, on business cards, on traffic exchanges, and as my signature in all my emails. Thank you very much for bringing this to us. Hurray for you IM Faceplate administrators. (clap)

IMF is an ideal vehicle for branding yourself and for making yourself stand out from the crowd. Look at all the ways you have of presenting yourself as different and unique. This article indeed goes a long way to showing everyone how easy it is to get positive exposure and expand your contact base. Newbies and veterans alike can amass a great following by simply putting these points into practice. I like what IMF has done thus far and look forward to even more improvements.

Thank you! The whole platform is designed to be powerful in it's results yet is straightforward and easy to use. The community is supportive and knowledgeable and that will only help it to grow. Great information! Easy step by step instructions with guidelines to make it doable for anyone with good emphasis on points that seem to get abused most frequently link posting referral links anywhere there's a comment box (well maybe that's a little extreme) but you know what I mean. I'm off to explore :)

IM faceplate is a great resource for your opportunities the cost factor is so meagre to the benefit you will get if used . Most people expect a fortune and jump around like frogs from one opportunity to another looking for that elusive QUICK pot OF Gold... Most People will do things for money. Why not try to be Better and do Good for no money.

I believe IM Faceplate has the potential of being one of the greatest social networking sites in our time. In fact, even now I believe this site equals Facebook. I'm looking forward for more features included in the future such as adding Imfaceplate Apps, pages, and others. I know they guys behind this new social site is looking for a lot of ways top improve this site. Also, I believe that sooner or later, we will be able to advertise here through their own ad platform. Keep up the good work guys!

Very helpful article! The interests thing was the only thing I was missing from having a fully developed profile, thanks for letting me know! I do have a suggestion for you guys though. I noticed today when a person tries to leave a comment on a group post, and they aren't logged in, they are allowed but it doesn't post to the site. I think instead a person getting this far should be presented with a join page once they hit submit, these actually could be randomly assigned to Pro Members across the board. It was just a thought as I was using the site today. Great job otherwise!

Awesome job. Some of the hardest points to teach people in using Social Media for online marketing is an understanding of how you can sell without advertising. Thus too many become advertisers and never seem to get networking down and fail at social media before leaving. In one of my article post I advise that people remember that once you leave your profile, nothing on the site is about you any more. Flatter, comment, compliment, and network to make friends so people come back to your profile but don't advertise or you tend to lose. A quick shout message can work wonders, but only if people listen when you speak so speak more often then you promote. I have a link in my last shout but could go 2 months before posting another link there and this one goes to a helpful article and not a sales page or ad. The impact of that is amazing, people actually visit, read, and interact. That doesn't happen posting a sales page or ad. Again, awesome advice and thanks for IM Faceplate. Andy

Hello from beautiful Montana: You are so right, we are all busy, busy, busy. But I have to stop the ferris wheel sometimes and wonder if all the busyness is actually productive. I did not know that the articles are indexed. But now I do. When we know better, we do better. I will concentrate on moving some of my many articles at www.ArticlesbyJudy.com over to this site. One more question? I am a PRO and pay a monthly membership fee. How do I know if I am making any money on the ads? Thanks, Judy H Wright

Guys really, your FacePlate is much, much better then I thought it is :-) And this article helped me to realize that. I have registered here as a free member right at the beginning, uploaded my photo, added my screen name and did not do anything else. And when I started to receive notifications about new followers, I did not have a choice but visit. Today after I read this article, I upgraded right away. I see tremendous value in FacePlate, as marketers we can do here so many more things then we can do for example in FaceBook and any other social communities. I love your rating system, especially how you deduct facepoints for deleted due to spamming, useless/off-topic comments and being inactive And how you reward us with extra points for someone else liking what we wrote in our articles or discussions. This rating system surely will help to keep high standards in this community, And will ensure that spending our time here will be worthwhile. Thanks guys, excellent work with this site, please accept my highest congrats. Merry, the emerging faceplate :-)

Thanks for reminding me to get busy using this membership. The next thing I'm going to do is read the other articles to make sure I have as much information about how to use IM Faceplate as possible and save myself some pain from trying to figure it out on my own. I did try to post an article, but it wouldn't allow me to paste from notepad. Is this part of the system or did I just not follow some detail correctly? I usually take a while writing and need to write when I can, then let it sit before rereading and touching up before posting. So, hopefully copying and pasting is allowed! Now, I'm off to see who is following me, thank them for the interest, follow them and find new friends. Have a fabulous day, everyone!

Users spamming their contact lists, comments and update features has always been the main problem with social media sites. Voting UPS or Downs is an easy way to send the message to comment abusers. As someone who has created memberships on several social networking sites in the past, my first reaction about being invited to join was "been there done that!" But once I became a member, my attitude changed immediately. The first thing I noticed was the search engine friendly IMFaceplate (instead of your usual lame profile page) This is a customizable (HTML enabled) blog page that you can use to inform and/or amuse your viewers as you promote your brand or username in relevant searches. Wish I had created it myself

Aug 7th 2010 at 10:04 AM by iddigger
An article many more should definitely read, I see we now have dating spammers on imfp and others posting links on profiles. Well that's all ok if someone ask for it but its not the way I see it. There's plenty of free features to use and market whatever and how to's like this article if they just read whats going on. My I think its a waste of time to promote whatever to someone at this site when everyone else is doing the same, if they like what you have they will see it on profiles or articles. Well got to go now and I hope everyone will stop by my site @ http\\: buymystuffnow! .COM Regards, Joe

Aug 7th 2010 at 6:58 AM by edcabrera
This is a great article on how to maximize your time on faceplate and get better results. I think you need to better define what spamming is, because most people are constantly sending links and selling their products. I think, most people have the impression that since we're all into business, it's OK to sell to everyone. People should take the time to get to know if the person if interested in your product or service before you "throw up" every thing you have at them. Most of the time we assume that if they befriend you, it give you free reign to sell at them, it doesn't. Get to know who your friends are before you offer them something they don't want or need.

This is a great article with very helpful advice. IM Faceplate is an invaluable tool - so long as it's used correctly, and that means no spamming. I have to say that everyone I've met so far on IM Faceplate has been really professional. Here's to our success.

Thank you for this article, it helps a lot to learn how everything works on here. Basically the only suggestion I would have is to provide a better handle on spammers, for example maybe make it possible to "rate" comments, then if an X number of people have rated it very low that user gets limited in the use of the site? If this is already possible, please excuse me, I am very new to this and trying to learn as fast as I can.

The suggestions and tips are very helpful and very powerful. It will, I am sure, improve the quality of contributions from Imfaceplaters to the site and contributions from the site to imfaceplaters. A win/win situation for all of us here

First all thank you for this great article, this will help all the new members and newbies to social networking. Also act as a reminder to all of us: what will work for us to build the most lasting friendships and business associations here. As I see the development of this incredible site. (I joined as a pro member right after it launched :).) There is absolutely NO NEED to spam; provided we all feature content rich information in our articles on our own faceplates. I love the activity page because it keeps me up to date and is the heartbeat of this social site! I look forward every day to coming here and see who has joined me, and of course I respond in kind. I thank you for all the wonderful improvements you have made here, since it first launched. I look forward for great things to come. IM faceplate is getting better each and every day :)

By far the best feature suggestion is the "Shout" The best way to check in for the busy social networker (is that a real word :D )is to see what people are shouting about. Life is lived in moments. Think about it... we attach our lives to songs, events that we shared with our friends, events that changed our perspective, sometimes moments of sorrow, joy or just plain silliness. We like to share accomplishments with our friends and helpful information. Also, we learn more about a subject or topic by researching and then teaching others. Just like any worthwhile endeavor, you'll get out of IM Faceplate what you put in. To coin a phrase, "Stay Thirsty my Friend"

I've a Serious consideration of a tool that I believe will Dominate the communication and social network as it may take the social and business entities by leaps and bounds ahead to the intruders, spammers, et cetera... Thus, my extra short story: I've been fed up with having to settle for an antiquated service system that the majority will change to at the point of connectivity to the novelty of succumbing to what's 'Status Quo' or the merely acceptable... Who Luvs lukewarm water _ How does it feel and taste in your mouth, on your skin? That same water at a cooler degree brings the feeling of a soothing atmosphere. On the other hand, Hot water causes the exact opposite and commands a "Call to Action"! The Majority of human brings will act to higher raised degrees of water. Even to its thought of causing harm or the very intake of high heat. Current weather events around the US this summer season heats up these examples for the general populace. As some said once, "The Need of the many outweight the need of the few". In a matter of days, I'm active member of our on-line IM faceplate community; after 'Proofing the finished draft'. Just in the latter two-to-three day period, hearing [oh, yea, reading] the disgust of fellow IM faceplate associates and members alike. To borrow from my previous post member to this specific article _ namely jimisan, within the "Nobody likes things being thrust into their throats and..." "...this article is a good start in the right direction." In which travels to the threshold of this deliverance. O yea, does anyone remember that line in the movie, "The Chronicles of Riddick", although it was with a sinister attitude _ can you hear those chilling collective voices, "Threshold! Takes us to the Threshold!" That point of 'Coming to the Cusp'... tuvm, Continue Prosperously,

Between the article and tips in it and many of the comments. Whoever reads (and puts to good use) the suggestions posted will go far. Like it has been said, a social network is not where you post your ads or business card, but instead it is designed to help you build connections with people you would otherwise probably never have a chance to meet. If the first time you met a millionaire, would you ask them to give you $100,000? Probably not. Treat everyone you meet on a social network that way and you will find you do NOT have many followers and the ones you do have will probably be replying to your ads with ads of their own.

Aug 6th 2010 at 9:20 PM by jimisan
What I like about this article is the reminder about spamming. Nobody likes things be thrust into their throats and stomach them. I guess by adhering to the points listed in this article is a good start in the right direction.

A very interesting and for me helpful article as I am still getting used to what to actually do here and put on my page. IMFP is a great site to get to know other people from around the world. So I find that all the comments have also been very helpful. Thanks IM.

A lot to absorb - great help though. I dont like bs and dont give it - I want people to get to know ME - not just see me as another marketer - thats only a part of me!! Im into a lot of things - using both sides of my brain :)

Great site you have come up with. I have taken advantage of most all of the features here and am quite impressed. Customizing is really quick and easy... literally minutes to get up and running. You can edit your faceplate on the fly whenever you want and include a rather sizable portion of your web content in one place. Anyone who hasn't taken the time to create their Faceplate is sure to miss out on a long lasting marketing channel for the ages. To verify #5 up there on the list, the other day, I did the once a month "Google" my name to see where I am out there and already my articles that I wrote and published here show up on the search results pages. With that said, the more we users here take advantage of what we get here, the more popular this site will get; the more popular this site gets, the more publicity out content will receive. P-A-R-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-E and reap the benefits now and you you will be sure to to gain more exposure in the coming months! Jim C.

Very timely advice to everyone, and I d mean timely. We have the rare opportunity to be involved in the infancy of what I believe to be the "Next Big Thing" in social networking. Thanks for the information, I will try to put it to good use.

Many people really don't know how to use a social network properly they think posting ads will result in masses of traffic when the reality is they are called social networks for a reason they are a place to socialize meet new people and discuss common interests, the last thing a member of a Social network wants is advertising thrust into his or her face 24/7. the smart networker will keep his posts about interesting news or information for example if i ran or was an affiliate of a company that produced cleaning materials i would be posting stuff on how to clean certain things stain removal etc i would mention no actual product however i would ensure that the company i represented formed a major part of my signature. Think about it my post is informative and educational it helps people and by not directly naming any brands or products people will then read my signature to obtain more information from me, i have changed a potentially cold lead into a hot lead and my chances of a sale just grew from 1-2% to over 60% simply by sharing good information rather than a link to a sales page.

I found very interesting all the precious tips, especially those that relate to the comments section (posts, discussions). There are several ways to be educated and creative at the same time, not wanting to fall into redundancy or spam. Oh! spam ... nothing worse than seeing below his article (which took a long time for you to prepare carefully and style) strange things written like: Very good, its know and I can say that is a marvel, but I suggest this one ... and then, the spammer puts your lovely link, or would linkspam?! Hugs to all

In any case stand out... Even if you're "too busy" just having an account and following a few people can do wonders for your business. I especially like the feed of activity I see in "my account" because it tells me all about how the people I follow are using IM Faceplate. The latest and greatest activity tab shows what everyone is doing so it might save you from following a ton of people to check that out.

Great article of the hows of imfaceplate and the donts of imfaceplate if you dont want to be a tyre kicker sales pitcher all rolled in to one, just like in the offline world not many of us appreciate a person we dont know at all knocking on our house door, then to be greeted with Hello "lam from such and such company, and l have the greatest product or service ever know to man kind" it dont work any more in the offline world most of these door knockers pray on the less fortunate and vulnerable people in socity but lam here to say if you try to use these tactics on imfaceplate you will be ignored by all! and imfaceplate will become a faceless place for you to hang out! Be real like your with your own family or community and you will build a priceless tribe on imfaceplate your social networking Rolex for life.

Very good article as well as explanation of Face Plate. I sincerely believe that Face Plate is poised to be a huge benefit for the Long Term Internet Marketer. Having one place such as FP to explain and show the world who you are, what you do as well as experiences is a great benefit for the long haul. Branding your self with a picture and saying things in your very own words creates long term belief and credibility that will pay dividends for a long time. I also truly believe that the benefits of a Pro Membership is a big advantage as well in a number of ways, monetary in the short and as many of us begin article marketing for FP and our own Face Plates, this can be huge. Needless to say, I am a big fan of FP, the timing is perfect guys and gals. Sam

This article is spot on and everyone should read it and take it to heart. So many people do not realize that once you damage your online reputation it is very difficult to repair it and it will cost you dearly in the long run. Networking is a powerful tool in Internet Marketing and you need to be careful not to take advantage (as in spamming) of the interaction because it usually is not acceptable behavior.

Wow! This article is right on point. Time is very important and yet it seems to get away from you. I am new at social sites, but I am learning daily. I have been trying to do everything at one sitting and end up not completing anything. Let me step back and follow the points in this article. Thanks for everything!

Your last sentence says what I saw the first time I was invited to IM Faceplate. It is important to get established here before IM Faceplate gets bigger, but I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the site so I appreciate your sharing ways to make that time beneficial.

I am a Pro Member. I did not get many signups for Pro yet but I did not mail many people to go Pro. However I do use all the features (I love the Pro active shout feature). I am also very busy but I take the time to write articles with unique content. I even have a sort of diary because I am a newbie in international marketing (Webmiep from Holland goes Global). And I am promoting faceplate on sites and sometimes in mailings. My approach is to honest about myself and about programs. I do not tell people I am about to retire from my earnings because this is not true. In my perpective there is already too much hype and dishonesty in MLM. This seems to work. Gradually I am getting more followers and more signups. This is priceless. I figure when people get to know me (which is easy when my face shows up on the frontpage) and they like my faceplates and the articles I write this will affect all my business in a positive way. What i like about faceplate is that free members have quit a few nice options too. It is a pity that the are so many faceplates that are empty (or almost) and without a profile picture. At the moment I think most people are from the USA. I hope more people from the netherlands will join soon. So in short i am glad i joined and went pro. Keep up the good work. I have one suggestion. It would be nice to see some sign (like checkmark, for example) on -followers page- to know do I follow my follower. I would like to follow back each of them and sometimes it is hard to determine. Hope I was clear :)

I for one am all for being personal here and also professional. When I enter the site, I look first for new people and follow them so they can have a follower,I also like to check out their faceplates to find anything interesting, I do not tell them to follow me! I also go on to check everything else out and add a comment here and there. One thing I don't do is to promote my links to other people's faceplates because I feel like if I make a friend, follow someone or comment and post an article, then that's expose enough. If someone responds back to me than they will see what is posted on my faceplate. That in a nutshell is fair enough.

I also agree strongly with this article. Be kind and be interesting but don't SPAM or you'll be lonely!

Wow Amazing Article and I agree with you we don't have hours online to play around with every option on IM Faceplate so we just have to go and be simple at IM Faceplate by building relationships by following members and we should also ready the entire Articles and if they helped you out you should always leave a comment and also Thank the Author for help you our.

These are all amazing features geared towards social interaction. One thing members need to be mindful of is that your followers see a posting of everything you do. It's located right inside our faceplate area. So if you use the same copy and paste message to 20 people in a row, we see that. When I see spamming methods of this nature, I automatically delete you from my feed, and my friends. I love messages introducing yourself and just even saying "Hello!" If I see that same message 20 times in a row in my feed, I know it wasn't a personal message at all. Take the time to type to people individually. It really can make someone's day! :)

Hi Everyone. I agree with this article. I like to treat faceplate like a blog or website. I've found some great information here. I also will be using some of your services. I would only consider that if someone was willing to teach me how to do what I need, or they may have a service I need. I personally will not do business with a spammer. We need more good quality out there not bad stuff. Then there is the great friendships I've been able to start. I know that we all want to make money, and there is so many hours in the day but, people remember you when you help them and will tell others about you. I think that is what this place is all about.

I am fairly new here at IM faceplate, but I must say that I have never been involved with a social networking site that has kept me informed and up to date with everything I need to know and do to brand myself like here at IM faceplate. I have really enjoyed the time I have spent here and look forward to spending a lot more time here meeting and socializing with all the interesting people here, thank you IM faceplate.

IMfaceplate has become the essence of my online presence and the core of my online marketing. Now I have a universal profile to use within the social networking community and my own unique brand. I really appreciated being able to see who is following me so I can return the follow and I love the activity page because to me the activity page is the heartbeat of this social site! I have upgraded to Pro and though I don't expect to make any significant residual income here on IMfaceplate, the exposure I get here is worth it's weight in gold to my online marketing endeavors! I love IM facepalte!

I think this article covers almost everyone who starts using IMfaceplate should know and by reading it they will get on the right path. And one good thing about IMfaceplate is that it gets better every and each day and this is soooooo wonderful. A social networking almost free of any spamming is what we want. I have a request to control those who copy and paste their articles on others' faces just to make referrals. I think this should be limited only to messaging (private). Thank you for the article. Cheers, Siamak http://imfaceplate.com/siamak :D
