Sweeva: why I love surfing again

Jul 2nd 2010 at 7:30 AM

Since I came here from Sweeva, it makes sense that my first article here is a review of Sweeva.  I've been a member since launch, and I have to admit (much to my surprise) that it's renewed my interest in surfing.

Sweeva is described by its creators (Jon Olsen, Tim Linden and Austin Hallock) as "social browsing".  It's a totally new concept in traffic exchange, where every surfer is viewing the same site at the same time.  There's a panel on the right side of the page to post comments, and these comments reappear each time the site does.  You can give each site a thumbs up or thumbs down, star other people's comments that you really like, and do cool stuff like download the Sweeva toolbar and add a neat little widget to your site.  Everything you do at Sweeva earns you experience points, and as you gain levels you also unlock lots of new features.

I like Sweeva because it gives me a reason to surf (as opposed to just buying credits, although I do that too).  Posting constructive comments on other people's sites is a great way to get yourself seen and heard, and get people interested in your sites.  It's called networking, and it's THE key to success in online marketing.  I surf most days, and try to find something constructive and something positive to say about every site I see.  While it's great to see lots of "nice site" comments posted, it's far more useful when someone has taken the time to really look at your site, and to think about what's good about it, and how it could be improved.  That's where Sweeva really comes into its own, and what makes it something really special in the traffic exchange world.

My only criticism of Sweeva would be that there's no way to control the number of credits your sites use.  Once you've assigned credits to your bids (the sites with the highest bids are the ones that get shown the most), the system keeps showing your site until the credits are all used up.  There's no way to say "I want my site shown up to so many times in a day", and I think that would be a great addition to the site.  As it is you have to assign credits on a daily basis to stop them being used up too fast, and that takes up valuable time that could be spent surfing.

Overall, I think Sweeva is a great site, and a first step into a new kind of surfing.

I just joined sweeva and I like it so far. I like the fact that other marketers can critique my splashes. However, there's alot of just random comments floating around, too.

Good Article I am still figuring the site out .. the Bid part is what confuses me But I love the comments that members leave about the sites shown. See you there!

Hi Louise, I've been a member of Sweeva for a month. I just started a couple of days ago to use bids. Of course I've seen some of the indicators skyrocket. Sweeva is really fun to use as a surfing site, with the cool features like the tweet, like, and especially the "remember" and "IMfaceplate" buttons. It's become obvious to me that I should add Sweeva as one of my spotlights here.

hi louise i loved your article about sweeva . everything is true . i have been in sweeva as a free member and i thought it was cool.

Aug 23rd 2010 at 11:28 AM by erixonline
I agree with you @jimmermac64 - I get at least 2 sign ups every time my site is seen at Sweeva. And now, you can control the amount of credits used.

Aug 23rd 2010 at 8:36 AM by jimmermac64
I have received more sign ups in the last 2 months with sweeva than i have with all my other TE's combined

One of the best things about sweeva is that we can set our campaigns to run at certain times even if we are "working or away from our computers"

i also like surfing its very interested...

Aug 21st 2010 at 5:59 AM by wolfie
Thanks Louise, great article! I use Sweeva, however I haven't plucked up the courage to use all the amassed credits I have to advertise one of my sites. I also wonder whether the person who advertises their sites knows who negatively rated them? Which can cause bitterness and upset, especially if you think your site is good and then you get x amount of thumbs DOWN!

Sweeva is a great site.I am there every day promoting and browsing.I highly recommend it!

I think Sweeva heard your suggestion about "allowing us" to decide how many times a day we would like our sites shown. I want you to know that your article encouraged me to join. I did! Thanks.

Hi Louise, I also came here from sweeva, I was there from the start. It is really sad how bad the comments section of sweeva has become so abused with spam and meaningless pasted comments that appear on every page every day. Steve

Thank you, netateer, for your lovely comments. That Japanese saying should apply to online marketers too I think. If you want to succeed, you just keep on getting back up!

Aug 7th 2010 at 2:58 AM by netateer
I much prefer your Traffic Exchange I see that this week again you are in the top 3..Beating Sweeva again.. Keep up the good work..In Japan they have little dolls called Daruma..They are weighted at the bottom. No matter how hard you try, you can't knock them over."seven times down eight times up," is a saying every Japanese child knows.

I joined Louise. Thanks for sharing this cool site with me. Talk soon.

Aug 4th 2010 at 6:15 AM by lulubel
Anniebee, just because a site is professionally made doesn't mean it's suitable to promote on a traffic exchange. I've always found I get the best results with splash pages that I've made myself, and Sweeva is a great place to get feedback on those.

Aug 4th 2010 at 6:03 AM by anniebee
I joined Sweeva and left it as it is a rather boring site. I don't see how you can judge sites that are professionally made. There are so many other sites around that offer more. Don't let me put anyone off everyone to their own and if you've joined Sweeva then all the best.

Aug 3rd 2010 at 11:26 AM by TerriLPattioMLMmento
Hi Louise, I love surfing but to me it was rather boring. I've seen Sweeva around and have never really taken the time to check it out. Thanks for writing this article as I have learned all about Sweeva. I will definitely be signing up today.

Thanks for the article-it sounds like Sweeva puts a nice spin on your run of the mill traffic exchanges. I am going to give it a look!

The chat/comment ability is what distinguishes Sweeva from other TEs.

Aug 2nd 2010 at 4:43 PM by webmiep
I agree. it is noce to connect with others. and also great to test self-made splashes http://www.sweeva.com/ref/webmiep

Sweeva is fun and effective surfing. With all the countless traffic tools popping up all over the internet, I'd have to say that sweeva ranks right up there with the best.

I am new here and I have heard of Sweeva but didn't really know what it was about. I have been blogging for the past month and it seems that it will be something that I will look into. Thanks for the review.

I am new to imfaceplate and Sweeva, so I was thrilled to read your article which gave insight into Sweeva's use and purpose. Thank you. I have been blogging for sometime, but always enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts, that is one of the reasons I joined "Imfaceplate." I will continue surfing and learning from people like yourself.

It took me a while to get the concept of Sweeva. Especially the bidding process was hard for me in the beginning :) But now I can say it's my most favorite one. Very good review!

Jul 21st 2010 at 12:51 PM by teambuilder
I like sweeva because of the feedback from the viewers (other members). Of course, if you are promoting a replicated generic splash page, there is not anything you can do to change the page. But if you create your own pages, then the feedback is priceless because you can tweak or fix problems before using the splash pages at other sites like HBP.

Jul 16th 2010 at 10:32 PM by thomaslknapp
I was a little cool to Sweeva at first -- the explanations of how it worked just didn't make sense. But I finally dove in today and am loving it.

Yes this is an excellent review. I am also a member of Sweeva and unfortunately don't use it to it's full potential.

Nice review, It has given me and understanding of sweeva. With all the site trying to convince us that they are the "one" its good to have the extra info. thanks again.

Excellent review Louise, I have been a member of Sweeva also since launch and I too have become a little addicted to surfing :-) Thank you.

I agree with you, Sweeva is a Great site. I don't mind the developers adding new things to the site, but don't want them to change anything already in place. I like it the way it is NOW!

Jul 9th 2010 at 10:59 PM by lee3211
i also like it and i agree with your critique; my credits are used too fast!

You are right, Sweeva rock! This is my favorite TE site on the net. Good review though :) Oh, you may like to see Stumbleupon.com if you like surfing. It is different experience but unforgettable and I must warn you - it is addictive!

Jul 7th 2010 at 6:49 AM by Healthyou3
Feedback about your site is useful, this what you get at Sweeva. You are not just surfing for credits or money but for ongoing evaluation.

Jul 6th 2010 at 11:22 PM by Prodoc
Sweeva is awesome for feedback both positive and negative on your programs. Great way to network as I have made some very nice new friends.

I have yet to investigate sweeva to be honest, after hearing the positive feedback I may look into it further, I do a lot of surfing already on traffic exchanges and obviously have my favourites which I do religiously every day. There are soooo many sites out there and soooo little time, but thanks for the info.

Well said Louise, nice article. I am new to both Sweeva & faceplate both are great site for learning and explore traffic exchange. Thank you Louise

Jul 3rd 2010 at 11:16 PM by zeus8894
Me the biggest plus is split testing our latest splash pages and marketing materials, while also connecting with other program owners. The largest negative, is the number of cheaters who leave 1-2 word comments with no value just to get credit for something they didn't do, like work.

Jul 3rd 2010 at 10:42 PM by vitalwebs
For me, Sweeva is the first Traffic Exchange that talks back! Getting live feedback on your pages and offers is really cool and unlike anything I've ever seen. I've never been a fan of TEs because I've worked with too many clients who were spending all their time surfing thinking they were building a business. It always bothered me that I would go to a site to advertise my business where everyone was doing the same. I need another business as much as they do. Sweeva has been a real game-changer for me. I really like what they have done and believe the future is bright. Sweevites unite!

Jul 3rd 2010 at 6:52 PM by duckydks
Hi Louise! I like Sweeva too. I like the fact that people give me feedback on my ads, which helps me to know what resonates... and what doesn't.

I totally Agree and have benefitted greatly, but Faceplate is going to outstrip Sweeva

I agree. Any site where you can interact with other marketers and get feedback on your promotions gets a thumbs up from me!

Thanks very much for the article Louise. Very much appreciated and we are so glad everyone is enjoying it. =)

Great write up and your right! I always feel so left out when I spend time just surfing away and not really connecting with anyone. Adding in a social aspect to a traffic exchange really changes many things and makes the community much more active.

I feel the same way about sweeva; it truly is a great site!

Jul 2nd 2010 at 11:26 AM by rhondamorton
Nice article Louise, I also found I enjoy surfing at Sweeva. It believe it is helpful to people to provide constructive criticism of sites in rotation. I feel we all learn from the experience. Have a great day!
