Sweeva: Re-Thinking the Pitch

Jul 19th 2010 at 11:46 PM

I've been a Sweeva member for a few days now, and I'm noticing something. Something bad. Something that needs to be fixed.

It's not a problem with Sweeva. It's a problem with Sweeva's members. And mea culpa, I've been part of the problem. This article is the first step in fixing that.

Follks, we're not thinking big enough.

We're treating Sweeva like Just Another Traffic Exchange. Splash pages. Squeeze pages. Quick-pitch opportunity pages. The custom jobs ("Sweeva Surfer!" followed by the same old thing) are popping up.

Thing is, Sweeva isn't Just Another Traffic Exchange.

Its longer surf clock and social browsing sidebar aren't just an inconvenience and a screen-space reducer.

They're an opportunity.

An opportunity let our hair down (those of us who have hair, anyway; maybe I'll buy a wig or something) and get to know each other.

An opportunity to talk to each other at greater length and in more detail about the opportunities we're offering and why we think those opportunities are so great.

That longer surf clock means more time on-page to soak up what's going on.

That social browsing sidebar means the ability to discuss what's on the screen.

There's certainly a place for your splash pages, etc. on Sweeva. If nothing else, you'll get feedback on whether or not they're catching your audience's eye and why or why not. It's probably a great place to trot out the URL you're getting ready to hit the "regular" traffic exchanges with -- a sort of instant focus group. And yeah, you may get a few signups out of the deal.

But every once in awhile, how about a longer article (IMFaceplate will host it!) on how you got hooked on Opportunity X, what Opportunity X has done for you, why you think the rest of us will benefit from it. Remember, we have an extra 15 seconds or so to listen to what you have to say. So say more. I'm just sayin' ...

I'm going to spend some credits putting this article up on Sweeva -- and the next thing you see there from me  will be the kind of longer article I'm talking about.

See you at Sweeva!

Regards,

Tom Knapp

Good point, Thomas! Though Sweeva is a TE and Im faceplate is a social site both promote the concept of "branding" our marketing online presence!

Dear Thomas! Yes i think you are right! be also a member of Sweeva, and must say, any don't work how i would wish it! First it should be clear, that it is a nonsens to talke only about how a site look!I'm not interrest in hundreds commens, look good or nice page! it would be much more helpfull , say any about what it is and tell any what other members know about working the programm! For me, it seemes it is a Site owned by GDI Company! 90% of all Sites are about it and RTA! The hugest betray on the Internet! It is only to hope that the owner begin to think about it, before any members leave the Sweeva! greetings Otto

TLDR... that's why :-) people are just clicking for credits, most don't care and are not interested in reading or buying right now.. most people would rather remember your site and come back later after their surf session... ..look at the feedback you'll see on these longer pages, nice idea though :D
