India’s largest bank, the state bank of India (SBI) yearly opens vacancies for the position of probation officers in its new or existing branches all over India. Candidates who are willing to apply for probation officer’s post are required to apply online using the website www.sbi.co.in.

The recruitment examination process is separated into three different phases. The first phase is about written examination that is chased by group discussion and personal interview phase. While the final segment of examination is only for those applicants who qualify the phase I and II respectively.

The SBI PO exam itself is divided into two parts. The foremost part is appearing in an online test where as the later part is based on an offline written examination. In online assessment, candidates must answer 200 objectives in order to qualify it. The objective questions will be taken from general knowledge, marketing and computers, data analysis and interpretation and lastly from test of reasoning. For the other part of test i.e. descriptive part, one hour will be given to candidates for scoring 50 marks. SBI po syllabus for descriptive section encompasses questions that are solely based on English language skills including, letter writing, essay, summary and comprehension. In order to move to the next level, one must clear both the objective and descriptive assessments.

Written and online examination will be followed by a group discussion and interview section. Group discussion is of 20 marks where as interview is worth of 30 marks. Those candidates who pass the examination as well as the interview will be moved forward to part III of recruitment. In this phase selection list of the successful applicants will be prepared according to the ranking.

Candidates short listed for SBI PO post will be given two year intensive training. Upon completion of training period, they will have to appear in screening test. Those who qualify the screening will be moved to next grade level. Whereas the ones who qualify but remain unsuccessful to attain higher standard level will be given the position of officer junior Management Scale I.
