Sources of Traffic Update

Jun 11th 2013 at 6:28 PM

It has been a long time since I blogged about how I get traffic to my favorite online income programs, plus a lot has changed in the different ways you can now get  traffic.   Years ago, the only free traffic that you could find was usually tied to either "safelists", "traffic exchanges", "classified ads", and "banner exchange sites", but this has changed a lot.  So I feel it was time for an update.

Now that is not to say that I have completely "thrown" free safelists and traffic exchanges "under the bus", as I have not.  But I have limited the number that I currently use (at one time I was a member of over 70 safelists and 20 traffic exchanges).   Over the years I have narrowed them down to my most responsive ones, which includes;
List Joe - safelist
ListSurfing - safelist and traffic exchange
Business World List - safelist and traffic exchange
Easy Hits 4U - has the largest traffic exchange membership online
Traffic Swarm - traffic exchange

As far as free classified ads, my most responsive sites were CraigsList and BackPage, but you always have the problem with other advertisers "flagging" your ads, even without any content violations, just to get your ads "removed" from the classified site (they do this to try to eliminate any competition to their ads).  So I do not consider these as a good traffic source for people that are "thin skinned".

And here are the free banner exchange sites that I have used in the past;
The Banner Exchange
The main problem with most banner exchange sites is that fact that you must also have a online web site that you can advertise other members banners on before you are allowed to advertise your banners.  I have not found banner exchange sites as a very good source of targeted advertising, so I do not use them any more.

One of the fastest growing advertising is video advertising.  Now you can still post your video's free on sites like YouTube, NetFlix, and Vimeo, but now you have any number of  paid MLM video advertising programs to choose from, like Stage and WowWe's video email system.  Plus video traffic training courses like Video Traffic Blaster, MyPIP, and MyPIP CPA.   Now I am very sure that video marketing is a great source of responsive traffic, it is just I have not taken the time to learn and used this type of advertising yet (I guess I am camera shy).

The biggest growth in traffic has come from banner advertisers.  Just 2 years ago there were only one or two of these banner traffic web sites, now there seems to be a new one coming online every week.  My favorite one is  BannersBroker as it offers a very targeted source of banner advertising that none of the others offer.  Other banner advertisers I have used include HourlyRevShare, BillBoardCash, Eap Promotions, Visitor BuilderFree & PowerfulIboToolBox, and  Free Viral Advertising but they do not offer targeted traffic that BannersBroker offers.

The other types of advanced paid online advertising that I use includes;
Blogging and Article writing using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) keywords.
PPC (Pay Per Click) ads including Google Adwords and  Bing Ads (Bing Ads is my favorite as it is sometimes 95% cheaper per click then Google Adwords).
Paid Solo Ads including sites like My Click Agent and Done 4 You Advertising
List Broker sites like The Home Business Agency and Dedicated Emails.
Ad Swap sites like Safe Swap and List Swapper.
But these are all more complicated types of online advertising that should not be attempted without good marketing training.  I know many a online marketer that has lost a lot of money by not knowing the proper way to use these types of advertising, but if you do want to learn how to use these types of online advertising, your best bet is to join a online marketing training program like Academy of Online Success or MyPIP

Now you might have noticed that I have not included PTC (Paid To Click) advertising like ClixSense and that is because I feel that this type of advertising is the most worthless kind you can ever purchase.  PTC sites are just people (mostly from poor countries) just wanting to click ads to earn money and they almost never join any income program.
