More Than 50 People Hospitalized After Chlorine Gas Leak In Mumbai

More than 50 people were taken to hospital after a leak of chlorine gas in the Indian city of Mumbai, according to the information of emergency services. More than 50 people have been affected. They have been transferred to three local hospitals for treatment, a Mumbai Fire Brigade spokesperson informed AFP. Fire chief Uday Tatkare said some firefighters were also admitted to hospital after the leak, which happened in the Sewri area of the city on land owned by the Mumbai Port Trust. Our men rushed to the site to stop the leakage. Though, four of our men also took not well and have been rushed to close hospitals, Tatkare was cited as saying by the Press Trust of India news agency. The industrial area is chiefly used for storage and delivery of cargo and containers. It has many dilapidated factories and warehouses and is also home to an extensive slum. No one was right away accessible for remark at the Mumbai Port Trust. Television pictures showed firefighters in defensive suits spraying metal cylinders. AFP
