Key points for selecting best keywords for your website

Jan 21st 2012 at 12:16 AM

If you own a website or planning to launch a website, then the first thing you required is to select best keywords to represent your website. Here a best keyword definition is: a keyword with low competition, decent traffic, easier to rank high and the most important "relevancy".

So how to judge a keyword that is is best for you?

1-The keyword SERP-:A keyword's SERP value represents the total number of webpages that contain the same keyword. To check a keyword SERP, you just need Google, put your keywords in "quotes" and then hit search. Look at the top left of the search result, it is the SERP value of a keyword. If is less than 50000 then it is good.

2-The "allintitle" value:-A keyword's allintitle value represents the total number of webpages that contain the keyword in their title tag, and it should not cross 5000 for a good keyword. To check any keyword's allintitle value, put this code in google search: allintitle:"keyword". Here quotes are necessary otherwise you may get a diffrent value.

Please remember:- Don't continue check allintitle value of keywords in a row more than 15 times, otherwise Google may ban your IP.

There are some other checks also, like "allinanchor", "KEI" and some more. But for me, the  KEI has almost lost its importance once Google came out with its own keyword tool as Wordtracker invented the KEI when Google was not in keyword research services scenario.
