8 Tips to Help You Get Good Results With Traffic Exchanges

Trying to get traffic to your new website or to your gateway pages for an affiliate program can be difficult if you are just starting out and have little or no advertising budget.

This article will explain how you can use traffic exchanges to get a steady stream of visitors to your website, without having to break your budget or spend hours on end clicking away to get credits.

In simple terms a traffic exchange is a place that you can join and view other members web pages in exchange for having your own web page viewed. Every time you view another member's web page for a period of time (e.g. for 15, 20 or 30 seconds) your balance of credits increases. Every time a member views your web page for the same period of time your credit balance decreases.

1.) Think long term. You won't see results over night. Be persistent and do not give up too soon. In order to be successful with Traffic Exchanges you need to devote some time to work them. I would suggest at least one hour a day and be consistent.

2.) Traffic Exchanges are not very good places for making direct sales. All the surfers care about is clicking on to the next website in order to earn a credit. You need to stop thinking in terms of sales and start thinking in terms of "leads." This you can do by promoting your own lead capture pages at traffic exchanges. The best way to use traffic exchanges is to get the lead and then follow up later on when the prospect has more time to view your offer. ListWire is a powerful and FREE autoresponder that works just like a professional (paid) responder service. It can help you in getting leads and your mailings to them.

3.) Build downlines in your traffic exchanges. The only way to get swarms of traffic is to build a downline in the programs that you use and earn a percentage of the surfing of your downline. It is important, therefore, to aggressively promote your traffic exchange affiliate referral links.

4.) People using the traffic exchanges are only interested in one thing: Getting more traffic to their website. You need to show them how to get More Free Traffic to their websites, how to pull more orders from their websites, how to get more people to sign up to their list and so on.

5.) Do not use long copy. The longest anyone is really going to view your page is thirty seconds at the most. Some exchanges have fifteen and twenty second timers. You need to capture your prospects attention in the shortest amount of time and get them to opt-in. Once you get them to opt-in, your emails can be as long as you need them to be.

6.) Try to make your copy to be as interesting as possible. Do not be boring. You need to have an in your face headline - something that quickly grabs their attention. The surfer is usually impatient. All he cares about is clicking to the next site and earning a credit. The last thing you want to do is bore him. Create your best headline, use a shocking photo that really gets the surfer's attention, use quick bullets of you best points and get the surfer to opt in.

7.) Use a pop Up. Many exchanges allow you to use 1 pop up. This is one more time someone will see your campaign. I know they're annoying but they work. Use an "exit" pop up if you're worried about loosing a subscriber because they don't like pop ups. They will have all ready signed up by the time they got it.

8) Consider upgrading. Most traffic exchanges offer free membership with the optional paid upgrades. If you upgrade, there are extra benefits such as an allocation of extra credits per month and a higher credit ratio for pages surfed. You can decide whether a paid membership will help you after you have tried out the traffic exchange for free first. However, for optimum results with traffic exachanges it is best to upgrade your account and earn more credits and more exposure.

Below are some examples of traffic exchanges that I use and can testify from personal experience that they are among the best out there:

a.) Easy Hits 4 You .......... b.) Traffic Swarm .......... c.) Web Biz Insider
