Dubai, being a global city, is also one of the most popular cities when it comes to tourism. Millions of people visit Dubai every year from around the world. Dubai's popularity is not limited to its skyscrapers and monuments but also to its tradition and culture. The reason why so many people visit this amazing city is because it offers a complete package of tradition, modernity, luxury, adventure and entertainment. There is no dull moment when you are in Dubai. Having said this, we will take a look at the top tourist attractions in Dubai.

Dubai Museum: While the magnificent buildings and the luxuries of Dubai may have a mesmerizing effect on you, an ideal way of beginning your Dubai tour is by taking a look at the life in Dubai before it turned into the developed city it is today. The Dubai Museum, which is situated inside an old fort (Al Fahidi Fort), is a place that preserves the old life of UAE. You will find several archaeological artefacts that were excavated from several areas of Dubai. The museum portrays the lifestyle, houses, occupation, attire, etc. of the Arabs before the period of development. A 10 minute documentary shows the growth of this city from a desert land to an ultra-modern city.

The Dubai Mall: The Dubai Mall can be described as one of the wonders of the world. With an area of 9 million square feet, the Dubai Mall is easily the largest mall in the whole world. With 1200 retail stores as well as more than 120 restaurants and a cafe, the Dubai Mall is a paradise for shopping lovers. Apart from this, the mall is also a home to five star hotels with 244 guest rooms, a huge multiplex as well as an underwater zoo and an aquarium. Next to this is the huge, gorgeous fountain which also performs for your entertainment. The light and music fountain show is one of the best that you would ever see. The Dubai Mall has something for people of all ages.

The Burj Khalifa: The list of tourist destinations in Dubai cannot be complete without mentioning the Burj Khalifa. Being the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa is no less than the eighth wonder of the world. A true architectural wonder, this building is the effort of thousands of people from all over the world. Hence, you must not give away the chance of visiting this amazing building on your visit to Dubai. While the view of the Burj Khalifa would leave you amazed, there is no doubt that the sight you find inside would amaze you. You can learn about the history and making of the building and travel to the top viewing deck by riding on the fastest elevator ever built in the world. Once there, do not forget to enjoy the mind blowing view of the city of Dubai before you start clicking pictures.

The Palm Jumeirah: Dubai as a city has reached a whole new level when it comes to engineering and architecture. The numerous unique and marvellous buildings are a proof of this fact. To add icing to the cake, Dubai announced the project of building three manmade islands at the end of the 20th century. Among the three islands, one of them is completely functional. The Palm Jumeirah gets its name as it is shaped in the form of a palm with a trunk and 16 fronts surrounded by a crescent shaped island at the top. This island extends on the Persian Gulf and is considered as the 8th wonder of the world, mostly because it is one thing on earth that can be seen from space other than the Great Wall of China. The Palm Jumeirah is the largest manmade island in the world and has some of the best hotels, residential buildings, villas, restaurants and retail stores of Dubai.

Dubai Creek: The Dubai Creek has a historical significance as it is this creek which divides Deira and Bur Dubai. Moreover, it is in the Bur Dubai side of the creek that the Bani Yas tribe (today's rulers of Dubai) settled in the 19th century, establishing the roots of the Al Maktoum dynasty. Apart from this, the Dubai Creek served as the only port of Dubai, thus helping to create a connection of Dubai with Iran and India. Fishing as well as pearl diving, two of the main occupations of Dubai in the past, were also based on this creek. However, what you see today is not something that happened years ago. Today, both sides of the Dubai Creek boast of some of the most remarkable buildings in the world. To enjoy the view of both sides of the creek, book a yacht for a few hours and sail along the creek. The dhow cruise tour, which usually happens during night time, is also a great way of enjoying the sights gifted by the Dubai Creek.

Desert Safari: Another tourist attraction that would take you close to the ancient times of the city of Dubai is the desert safari tour. Although Dubai has developed into a great and powerful city, one cannot ignore its past as a desert land. To give a taste of the desert life, several tour companies have set up camps in the middle of the desert. Here, you can sit inside Bedouin styled tents, smoke shisha or hooka, enjoy belly dancing and also indulge in a scrumptious barbecue dinner. There is some adventure element to the whole tour with dune bashing, camel riding and quad biking. While the usual desert safari trips are an evening event that extends for a few hours, you can also opt for an overnight desert trip where you get to stay in the desert. Amongst all the desert safari tours in Dubai, the Hatta Mountain Safari is one of the most famous.

Although we have mentioned the above given destinations as the top tourist destinations in Dubai, these are not the only ones. While you are in this Emirate city, do try to visit the Burj Al Arab, the gold souk, Ski Dubai at the Mall of Emirates, the Global Village, the Dubai Marina, the Miracle Garden, etc. One thing that is guaranteed here is that you would have a whole lot of fun in this wonderful city of Dubai.
