TAXIS AND RENTAL VEHICLES WITH DRIVER: CHILD SEATS (A BIT OF CLARITY)

Mar 26th 2020 at 11:30 PM

I share a reflection with you. For the first time, I found myself facing a "logistical" problem in relation to an upcoming trip. The issue I will talk about is the parking and shuttle service to the airport but, looking into it, it has moved to a much wider field, also involving the world of taxis.

I had already used this service but, to date, I had always done it without the children.

Instead, here we are ready for a trip by plane with both children and, this time, we have decided not to engage friends or various relatives but rather to go independently to the airport.

You will surely also know how it works.

Arrive in your car at the chosen car park, park, leave the keys to the attendant and in a few minutes with a comfortable van you will be at the airport. Comfortable, fast, perfect! Bournemouth Airport Transfers to London

What if there are children with you? No problem: up to three years they will be in the arms of an adult, over this age seated independently with the belt. You read correctly and all according to the Highway Code (art. 172).

For years we have been fighting for the awareness of safety systems in the car for the transport of our children, seats that change according to the weight and age of the child so that in the event of an accident a tragic event can be averted, obviously within the limits of possible!

Why does the law provide for different obligations for the same vehicle (9-seater van usually) depending on the different types of registration? Is it possible that security changes only by virtue of a different piece of paper?

Because of the vehicle is registered as private transport for people, it is necessary to install a seat, booster and all the systems provided, if instead the same vehicle is registered for hire with driver, the rules change.

The rule, in my opinion crazy, therefore also applies to taxis that speed in our cities. Here there is no requirement for a seat but you can hold your baby in your arms.

Which solution? In our case, traveling with two adults, we can safely pass the airport first, leaving mom and children, and then go to the parking lot. So only the undersigned will use the shuttle. If you also bring your own seat on your journey (should it serve you on a car you will rent ...), you could ask to mount it on the shuttle and be so calm.

But what if it was only an adult traveling without a seat in tow? And why should taxis traveling in our cities be safer than our cars?

It seemed to be a reflection that was absolutely shared. Because, in our opinion, security is never too much!
