It's your new summer go-to hot spot.

Steve Aoki at Terrasses Bonsecours

WHY:It's your new summer go-to hot spot.
Take advantage of the upcoming long weekend at Sunday's Terrasses Bonsecours season kickoff party, where beats are courtesy of Steve Aoki, our favourite Japanese-Californian house DJ. Head over during the late afternoon to order the year's first mojito, check out the fabulous view of the Old Montreal quays, and mingle with beautiful people who've been hibernating all winter. When the sun sets and the party gets started, don't be surprised if the night stretches into wee hours of the morning -- with any luck, you've got a welcomed Monday off to recover.

WHY:It's a taste of the Plateau in Verdun.
Verdun isn't exactly on top of the list of foodie destinations, but it's slowly working its way up. Check out JoBlo, one of the newest additions to the restaurant scene on up-and-coming Wellington Street. Choose from the international mix of comfort staples like Irish bangers and mash, Tex-Mex nacho plates and a talk-of-the-town pepper sauce burger. You'll remember this quirky spot for its decor , and its dim lighting and bustling vibe might make you forget that you're not in the Plateau.

Montblanc Boutique

WHY:High-end watches at Carrefour Laval.
Montreal has historically been a bit of a watch wasteland. Chateau D'Ivoire delivers on the classics, but those in search of mind-bending models have typically had to sneak them back home via an anxious drive over the border. The opening of the the Montblanc boutique in Carrefour Laval last spring expanded our options, and the recent arrival there of the Vintage Tachydate and Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph models actually got us doing something we never dreamed we would: riding a bus through Laval. WHY:So Moby and Arianna Huffington walk into a bar...
From May 22nd to May 25th Sid Lee is hosting C2-MTL, a conference designed to foster innovative forms of thinking and collaboration between different levels of business and industry. The line-up of impressive speakers not only includes Huffington and Coppola, but also former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, Google's Patrick Pichette and Dreamworks Chief Creative Officer, Bill Damaschke. While this event is in the guise of a "business conference" don't expect any boring PowerPoint presentations. Prezi won't even cut it. Instead, think Cirque de Soleil performances, creativity boot camps and an innovation village. Oh, and Moby's throwing a party. Register here.

Bevo Bar & Pizzeria

WHY:A new hotspot brings traditional Italian to Old Montreal.
With the opening of Old Montreal's newest resto-bar, Bevo, you won't need to spend all your air miles for a taste of authentic Italian pizza. In fact, you won't need to spend much at all -- every item on the menu is under $30, but that doesn't mean they've skimped on any mouthwatering Italian exports: Prosciutto, sopressata, pecorino and parmigiano are star ingredients on family-style sharing plates and crispy wood-fired pies. Linger at your table as the DJ plays late-night tracks and order a Limoncello Drop -- quite possibly named after the result of drinking one too many.

Goosto Traiteur

WHY:Get a picnic to go.
The only thing better than a hike up Mount Royal is the well-deserved snack you can afford to chow down afterward. At neighbouring Goosto Traiteur, you can stay on the right track without sacrificing the taste factor. Take your pick from quiches, salads, wraps, pizzas and brochettes, then re-boost your sugar levels with a treat from the fresh juice bar .

Social Solidarity Orchestra

WHY:Activism has its perks.
When was the last time you caught a free orchestra performance? The Social Solidarity Orchestra, led by pianist Nicolas Ellis and combining over 70 musicians from the music programs around the city, will be performing at the Plateau's St-Jean-Baptiste Church on May 14. The goal is to raise support for lower student tuition fees but even if you're not an activist, their performance of Tchaikovsky's victorious-sounding 1812 Ouverture should catch your attention. Show up an hour before the 8 p.m. show for free tickets.

Guess Fashion Show

WHY:The clothes aren't the main attraction.
What do you get when you combine a top-notch local DJ, vodka specials and runway models? Saturday night plans, that's what. Switch it up from the usual hangout and get on the guest list for Montreal's Guess Fashion Show. Taking place Saturday May 12 at Arena in the Pepsi Forum, beats are courtesy of DJ Avi Large while Grey Goose bottles are $140 before midnight. We won't judge if you're not going for the clothing.

Sixth Edition of the Club de Boxe l'Espoir Gala

WHY:Support a charity without endangering your good looks.
So you want to support a good cause like a local youth boxing program but you're nervous that the eleven-year-old from Saint Michel that you'd have to spar with might knock you out. Instead of strapping on the mitts and donating your face, suit up and head on over to the Club de boxe l'Espoir's gala on May 11th. Police officer Evens Guercy founded the organization to help keep kids off the street and combat social exclusion and delinquency. General admission tickets are only $20 or you can grab a VIP table for $500. There's also an auction and prize draw. Go to for tickets.
