Uh Oh! I Dropped My Mobile Phone In The Bathtub? What Do I Do?

If you drop your mobile device into water, there is a good possibility you can save it-even if you think it is dead.  But you must act quickly!  First, obviously dry the outside of the phone with a towel.  Then take all removable parts off (battery, sim card, etc.)  Thoroughly dry the inside of the phone with a blow dryer set to low speed.  Put the phone back together, but, do NOT be tempted to turn it on to see if it works yet!  Put the phone into a ziplock freezer bag full of uncooked rice!  (Rice will draw out the remaining moisture).  Leave it in the bag sealed for atleast 3 days.  Then take it out, turn it on, and chances are good you will have a working phone again!  If not, well atleast you tried!  (And if it does not and you need a new mobile, you can get a free one here:  Countrywide Satellite

Alternatively you can also use a shop vac to suck out as much water as you can instead of using a blow dryer. The key is to not turn on the phone while it still has moisture in it- this will short circuit it.

As a plumber while working in ditches this happens a lot . Now I know what to do instead of throwing my lifeless phone across the jobsite . Thanks for the great information .
