a list of pros and cons to summarize.
*Sandisk is a trusted brand and the drive is very cheap considering the quality and the performance.
*Fast even over SATA II connection, you'll not get the 500MB read/write speed over SATA II but you'll get the full IOPS speed which is what matters for the OS boot and launching programs. (WEI is 7.8 on Sata II).
*Updating firmware is very simple, I did update it before installing windows and didn't have any problems :)
*Tiny packaging, good for international shipping :D
*3 years international warranty.
SanDisk Extreme 480GB
honestly I can't think of any but few are complaining about the simple packaging (no cables, screws, bay... etc) but I don't think of it as a con since you should have known before making this purchase
overall it's a wonderful upgrade and I wish more people buy into sandisk ssd's this way we can expect lower prices and better products soon
I haven't gotten around to upgrading my entire desktop yet so I'm running this drive at half speed (SATA II). It's still ridiculously faster than any HDD. I'm also using a Patriot Pyro SSD in my HTPC which uses the same SandForce SF-2281 controller and both have worked perfectly. The new SandForce controllers seem to have fixed a lot of the issues of the old versions. I got the drive on sale for 0.82/gb which is a reasonable price for such a boost in performance.
