Mobius Action Camera 3-Axis Gimbal for STorM32 BGC
The Mobius Platform used in this design is borrowed from the Mobius Mount found here .It's been heavily redesigned to be more friendly to my printer and to be integrated better into my gimbal design. I also found the pitch center on the platform was too far to the rear.
All other components of the design are original. I plan on redesigning the main gimbal frame to hang in the front of the MRC vs underneath and to mount the BGC directly above the yaw motor and to have the anti-vibe bobbins support the gimbal via compression rather than in tension as they support it now.
The Gimbal Top Plate file has been custom designed to fit underneath the front of an HJ 500 Alien quadcopter with slight modifications.
It is recommended to use a board camera as a pilot camera:
Board cameras are built specifically to output analog video and most have proper locking connectors that won't blow out from simply flying. Board cameras have very good to excellent low light handling (0.1 - 0.001 lux on the most popular models) and good to excellent light transition handling
Board cameras have no battery, and are either powered by the main battery, or by a large secondary battery that far exceeds the capacity of any HD cam internal battery. Board cameras are designed for outdoor use, and are designed to take temperature extremes and moisture.
Board cameras have a high reliability level as they are intended to be set up and run for years on end without service. Most Board cameras are also significantly less expensive than HD cameras, so if they are damaged or destroyed then they are easily replaced. This is especially important during the early years of flying FPV as you will crash.
