How to clean The CPU fan properly by yourself?

Sep 30th 2015 at 12:28 AM

If you are having a computer and you are facing problems with it then you should identify the problems first and then if it is minor then get it fixed by yourself, but you should know not every computer is same and it differs model to model. If the problem is with the cooling fan it is very easy to remove the fan and clean it and after cleaning the fan it can properly work. But for cleaning the CPU fan you need some equipment like a small screw driver, can of compressed air and a tube of thermal paste.

At first, you initiate by taking out the five screws at the bottom of the CPU. Softly snoop up the cover. You might get a minor popping noise during removal but do not get anxious it should come out without any problem. Then you need to take out the five screws holding down the heat sink and then the two screws that keep the CPU fan. Be careful, there is a connector attached to the fan, you need to confirm you take off the plastic connector to take awayit; do not pull on the cable.

Now while Computer Repair San Diego take out the heat sink from the CPU and stem it with the compressed air to slough off any dust and dirt that has gathered. Then take away the fan and again blow off the dust but ensure you hold the fan wheel ready when you blow it with the air. You do not want the fan to whirl as the blades are subtle and they could get broken.

To finish, the preceding step of this computer repair is to check the heat sink to see if the thermal paste that will be there on a small copper plate, has tough and split. If the paste is still the consistency of paste, it does not need to be interchanged. If still it has hardened, take a credit card or some other thin plastic piece so that you can use to moderately scrape off the hard paste on both the heat sink you detached and the plate inside the computer. When you are all set to apply fresh paste, first rub off the surfaces with a paper towel and then blow them off for a second time with the compressed air. Put a little pat of paste on the heat sink and spread it equally and place the part back into the CPU.
