Which Brand Of Ride On Mowers For Sale Do Australians Think Is The Best?

Oct 17th 2014 at 4:11 AM

Consumer satisfaction and research company, Canstar Blue, released the results of their ride on mowers for sale survey in early August – and the verdict is probably not as surprising as you would think. Honda was considered the best manufacturer for 2014 (retaining the top spot, which they last won back in 2011). In should also be noted that, in the interests of comparing similar models, only petrol mowers were considered.

Each of the brands must have received at least 30 responses in order to be included (which could explain why more expensive ones, such as Husqvarna, don’t appear to be featured).

Honda

The only brand to receive 5 stars for each category – overall satisfaction, value for money, reliability and performance, ease of starting, maintenance/servicing, grass cut quality, and after sales service.

Honda is probably the most well known brand on the list, but this is likely due to the fact they also produce cars and motorbikes. They have, however, been producing domestic and commercial equipment (such as mowers) for a number of years now, and this commitment to quality is clearly recognised.

Masport

Coming in second, this brand received 5 stars for reliability and performance, and grass cut quality; and 4 stars for overall satisfaction, value for money, ease of starting, maintenance/servicing, and after sales service.

Masport doesn’t just deal in ride on mowers – they also have a long history in the manufacture of line trimmers, blowers, hedgetrimmers, shredders and so on – which makes them a real garden equipment heavyweight. Because of this, it is not surprising that they came in a close second.

Rover

Coming in third, this brand received 5 stars for reliability and performance; and 4 stars for overall satisfaction, value for money, ease of starting, maintenance/ servicing, grass cut quality, and after sales service.

Rover does succeed in one area where many other brands fail – they specialise in the manufacture of various mower types to suit varying budgets and needs. Their higher end models feature mulch catchers and key-start motors, whereas their less expensive ones can get through a full acre of grass.

Victa

Coming in fourth, this brand received 5 stars for value for money; and 4 stars for overall satisfaction, reliability and performance, ease of starting, maintenance/ servicing, grass cut quality, and after sales service.

Victa has been renowned throughout Australia for the last 55 years and is so iconic that it was featured during the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. The brand prides themselves on being all about lawncare, and this has been shown in the results.

So, how did Canstar Blue go about rating the various brands of ride on mowers for sale? They commission Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories in order to measure and track customer satisfaction. In terms of this survey, the results we have shared here come from the survey group that indicated they have purchased a petrol rider within the last three years – in this case, it covered 547 consumers.
