Organize Your Kids’ Mornings With This Simple Evening And Morning Routine.
Most parents dread weekday mornings because they have to deal with the fuss involved in getting their kids ready for school. Yet you can make these mornings more bearable if you just get a bit more organized and turn your mornings from rushed, tear-filled and chaotic, to easy and extremely organized. The first thing you must do is to get your kids organized from the night before. School days have a very specific routine: your kids will need to get clean, dress up and eat their breakfast. They will also need to carry a snack pack, lunch pack and school bag. Knowing that activities for every morning have to involve these things, start your preparations the previous evening to avoid rushing in the morning.
Every evening, select all your kids’ clothing and inspect them for faulty zippers, missing buttons and tears. Also make sure that all your kids’ clothes have name labels. Do not leave it up to your kids to choose their own clothes as they will only make a mess in the bedroom and not settle on a practical school outfit. Iron all the clothes in good time. One thing you could try is to lay out the whole week’s outfits over the weekend. This way, your kids, especially the older ones, will know what to wear from Monday through Friday. Another thing that you must do is to ensure your kids get a thorough bath every evening before bed. This way, you’ll only need to freshen them up in the morning, a process that will take a few minutes. As well, instead of waiting to pack meals in the morning, pack everything at night. Additionally, check your kids’ homework and inspect their back packs at night to make sure they are up to speed with their school work and that they won’t forget any essential school items in the morning. All these evening activities, including bed time, should follow a certain routine which will allow your kids to start getting used to doing things in a certain order.
Every morning, wake the kids up at the same time. The younger ones especially might kick up a fuss at first but they will get used to it in no time. Get the kids to the bathroom for a quick shower, brush their teeth and get them dressed. Never allow your kids to go to school without breakfast; if you have thought of breakfast beforehand, it will be easy to prepare. Create morning responsibilities as this will encourage team work and ease the burden of responsibility on you. After the younger kids finish their breakfast, inspect their backpacks and lunch packs to make sure they have labels and then send them to school. This simple evening and morning routine will really ease up your stress. If you wait to do everything the last minute, everyone will be late every morning.
