Maintain Security with Police ID Cards

Jun 2nd 2014 at 4:22 AM

When it comes to a police station, most individuals are simply going to assume it already is full of security, as after all, it is the location of the police department. While this is the case for smaller locations, where everyone knows all the people who work inside of the station, larger cities are going to have hundreds of employees come and go throughout the day. This makes knowing everyone extremely difficult, yet it is necessary to only allow those people who actually work with the police department inside of the station. In order to do this it is important to seek out the help of police identification cards. The police identification cards are going to help with checking employees into the building. Depending on the level of security desired though, there are several different options for the police identification cards, so only those who should be in the station are allowed in.

Information Cards with Photo

The more basic of the security cards is one that provides a bit of information about the individual, such as their name and position in the police department, on top of their photograph. This way, when the person working inside the station is checked in by the guard, they simply need to flash their ID badge and the guard can instantly check it. Many times this goes with a security check point, so the person has to go through a metal detector, although there are several different options available for improving security. This sort of a feature can work sell for medium sized police stations, but for larger stations, it isn't always possible to have enough guards on hand to pass everyone through security in a timely manor. When this is the case, a scannable security card can be used.

Scannable Police Identification Cards

With the scannable option of the police identification cards, the cards provide the same sort of information as the information cards, only this time there is a barcode placed on the card, which the individual scans over a barcode reader that is connected to an electronic security gate. Once the scanned barcode matches a barcoded stored in the memory banks of the system's network, the security gate is unlocked and the person can move past. Upon moving through security, the gate locks back up and the process is repeated. A security guard can be present in order to make sure everything goes smoothly and that nobody is attempting to pass back a guard or move through that shouldn't, but for the most part, this sort of a security setting should prove extremely helpful for larger police stations that can experience a perpetual flow of employees moving in and out of the building.

In order to protect the police station from people who should not be allowed into the facility, police identification cards have the ability to help. These ID cards can reduce the chance of someone entering into the building that has no right or reason to be inside.
