Horse Riding Clothes – What Completes Your Ensemble?

Dec 12th 2014 at 10:12 PM

Dressing for horseback riding is not too expensive, and finding the appropriate garments is not difficult either. The ensemble encompasses:

Shirts, vests and jackets

If you are planning to go to a horse show, you may have a good set of T-shirt or sweatshirt to wear. However, when going out on the trail, you might consider wearing something different. Here, you may consider wearing bright colours for enhanced visibility. Riders also need to wear good quality vests when the weather gets cooler. While lending themselves to provide you warmth, vests also provide enough room for your arms and shoulders to move while riding.

For the winters, there are coats designed for the riders for areas where one has to cope with frigid temperatures. The coats are designed to be roomy enough for the shoulders and have gussets to spread over the saddle so that it doesn’t tuck under your seat. Many of them also feature attractive reflective tape and patches for great visibility out on the trail.

For summers, shirts and polo t-shirts coupled with adequate safety equipment are enough for a wonderful ride.

The horse riding clothes may differ if you have plans to show your horse. You need appropriate garments. It would be better if you head out to some horse shows to analyse what others are wearing. You may get to see some specific types of clothing, which may be custom made.

If you are a regular rider, then inexpensive two-way stretch tights may be a comfortable option for you. The riding tights should be bought with leather knee and seat patches to provide better grip. In addition, they are made of a highly durable fabric to last longer. For winter riding, these riding pants are made of fleece material for warmth. Remember that riding in jeans and sweat pants is not safe and comfortable.

Safety gear

Aside from horse riding clothes, you need some safety equipment to ride while avoiding any chances of injury. Though you can find comfortable and suitable clothing for riding, but helmet is an item that you would not want to skimp on. You need to buy brand new helmet that is certified for riding.

Choose one that is attractive, comfortable and suitable for your needs. You can then add a warm helmet cover and winter riding gloves to enhance the comfort level of winter riding. Note that the safety gear chosen by you should be well-fitted, adjustable and comfortable.
