Diamond Jewellery - A lifetime Treasure
Let us talk a bit about evolution, not about human evolution but how jewellery has evolved over time. In the universe of jewellery, diamond jewellery is the new frontier and it has a legacy.
As a species, we have not always been so akin to beauty in our lives. Earlier it was a dog eat dog world, following which we evolved into finer beings and then we started understanding the whole point of beauty in our lives. After the self realization that beauty not only exists around us, but also within, we learned the trick of beautifying ourselves, giving rise to what we know now as Jewellery. In the earlier times, Jewellery was commonly important for men and for women, albeit for different purposes.
In the ancient ages, Jewellery was a sustainable commodity made from bones and tree leaves and whatever was available in nature, while polished commodity like diamond jewellery came centuries later.
Symbolically, men used jewellery to signify their glory in battles, hunts and everything else which was a little brutal, while women would sit home and get creative with them. This marked the beginning of all forms of designer products, including our beloved diamond jewellery. Centuries later, the craft of designer jewellery continued unabated as businessmen and traders found a commercial use of making them. An entire industry was established, and then we discovered diamonds and it opened up possibilities to a variety of diamond jewellery.
The precious stone was first mined in India along the rivers Penner, Krishna and Godavari and pre dates at least 3000 years. Diamond is essentially a carbon allotrope, where the molecules are arranged in a specific structure to form a diamond lattice. It is considered to be the hardest element on the planet and the only thing that can cut a diamond is another diamond. Their tensile strength, their beauty, has made diamond jewellery the best friend for a girl or a woman. It also essentially symbolizes a status quo.Not only are they a woman’s best friend, but recently even men have taken quite the interest in diamond jewellery – maybe a new dawn in coming.
