Who Would Have Thought; Sardines Are Good For You

Feb 18th 2015 at 2:14 PM

Brislings Sardines are a small fish, typically, caught, canned, and imported from Scotland or Norway.Brisling Sardines

The strong fishy smell of Sardines turns many people off.  It doesn’t have to be that way.

The small Brislings have a light smell and taste and are packed full of great nutrition.

Sardines are a huge anti-inflammatory and are zero on the Glycemic Load Index.

High in Niacin and Calcium, and packed with Protein, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Phosphorus and Selenium.  Just like salmon it’s a great source of Omega-3s.Omega-3s help lower cholesterol.

Fish is an important part of our diet and should be included.  I always choose wild caught varieties.

Size matters when it comes to sardines, the smaller the better, and Brislings fall into this smaller category.  You won’t find the strong fishy smell and taste here.     I find them sweet and delectable and more than a snack just out of the can.                                      Believe it or not you can find all sorts of recipes for the little fish.

Do you know Alton Brown from Good Eats on the Food Network?  He has a sardine and avocado sandwich you'll find pretty good.

Take a look at the recipe:
