The Incessant Need of Communication in an Organization

Dec 22nd 2015 at 9:58 PM

Imagine a world without communication? Could you? Of course not. The same applies for communication in your workplace. Can you imagine your firm or business wherein employees are completely out of sync with each other and the departments or segments in complete mayhem? We suppose not. Communication is the driving force behind the smooth facilitation of any business. It is thereby important to understand and internalise and thereby affirm the incessant need of communication in an organisation. The top leadership needs to understand this and pass it on to the various layers of work force. The need of communication and its importance could be understood by the many benefits it entails. Here are a few:

1.    It creates an atmosphere of inclusivity and promotes unity: a cooperative atmosphere with harmonious co-existence of people is always a delight to work in. Not only does it leads to good vibes being instilled in people but also promotes clarity. Everyone should be in communication with each other to know what is there on their plate and what needs to be done. Researchers have established and confirmed the fact that places where communication is in place are better result yielders.

2.    Feedback: Stressed communication in a big way puts a full stop to any feedback. It leads to acrimonious relations between employees and the leadership affecting the prospects of success.  On the contrary when there is a harmonious relationship with wide avenues of communication, employees feel free to share their problems and give feedback to each other. This often leads o the overall benefit of people. Feedback which is a crucial aspect of communication also helps improve performances of employees and leads to their personal and professional enhancement and enrichment.

3.    Better Consumer Relationships: Consumers are integral to any business. Communication is the medium of staying connected to the consumers. It is thereby important to have enhanced communication skills to deal with clients in a better manner. This involves a mastery over verbal language, ability to narrate a story in an interesting manner and being adept at the art of engagement.

4.    Communication helps in enforcing better rules at the workplace: Business outlines undergo and should undergo revamp from time to time, this is important in keeping up with the changing times. It is communication that becomes a tool for not only designing but enforcing these rules in an organisation. These rules then go on to determine specificities of a business like employee retention, client-employee feedback and interaction and so on.

5.    Leaves ample for innovation: Ideas could emerge from anywhere and not just from the top leadership. It is very much possible for fresh employees to have ideas that could prove to be game changers for the business or the organisation. By encouraging communication between various factions in the organisation you are only leading to good.
