The Good and Bad of Online Education
You might be working in some professional organization and might be thinking of enhancing your career growth with a college degree. But the problem here is that there are literally dozens of options available online and it often becomes difficult to pick the best among them. You would need to look at the pros and cons of each program to make a perfect decision. Without looking at all the pros and cons one cannot make the right decision.
There are dozens of benefits that are often associated with online learning. Unlike traditional learning, e-learning offers you more flexibility and convenience. You have more control on your studies in this mode of learning. You have control on the schedule of your lectures and you would have control over money that you would spend on online learning. You would chose a program that is completely suitable and in line with your area of profession.
Another advantage of online schooling is that you don’t need to leave your job for it. It doesn’t hamper your job in anyway. You can continue your job as you were working before. This is a major advantage which traditional mode of learning usually doesn’t offer. You continue earning with no effect on your studies. Online programs also cost less since you don’t have to spend money on commuting or various other academic fees. Tuition fee is also less as compared to conventional learning. You can spend this money on something else like on your family or on yourself. A great advantage indeed.
Online education is also a perfect option for those who are disabled or are handicapped. If you are physically handicapped and cannot attend a college or a university then online schooling might be a perfect option for you. Also if you are a shy individual and don’t feel comfortable while socializing with others then again this is a very good option for you. It would give the same experience as a normal class.
However there are a few small drawbacks too. Like a traditional instructor might not be comfortable with the online environment and it might become difficult for them to deliver lectures using internet. Or provide additional support to student’s queries using internet. There are instructors who don’t know how to handle latest technologies. While students might be more comfortable with computer hardware and software it is not necessary that teachers also feel the same.
Technological compatibility is another issue. Some students might not have the right kind of hardware to support the specific software that would be needed for a virtual classroom. There would be instances when the student might need a high speed internet so that he or she can interact properly with other students and instructors. Similarly online schooling might deprive student of the live class environment. He won’t have the experience of interacting with other students or teachers face to face. A student might not be able to polish his or her oral communication skills with this type of learning environment. There are dozens of online school programs and you can chose the one that is best suited for them.
