IBPS released details related to Common Written Examination

India-The Institute of Banking personnel Selection (IBPS) releases details regarding the Common Written Examination (CWE) for different recruitments including clerk recruitment, age limit, clerk exam, and PO/ MT recruitment recently across India.

The IBPS is an institute serving for the selection operations of the 19 public sector financial institutions in India. Each year, the institute organizes the common written examination for the position of probationary officers and clerks in India. The IBPS exam started in 2011. IBPS conducts an online exam for the clerk enlisting that contains 200 questions to answer in two hours.

The exam includes the test for general knowledge, English language, numerical ability, reasoning, and computer knowledge with singular orientation to banking sector. Each section includes 40 questions for a maximum of 40 grades. The IBPS Exam result qualifies the successful applicant for the interview. Each section of the IBPS exam comes with a separate cut-off and in order to attend the interview, qualifying the test is not a guarantee. This means that applicants have to target over 160 grades out of 200 in their IBPS exam result to be eligible for the interview process.

For passing the common written clerical exam, the applicants should have degree or diploma or certificate in computer language or should have learned IT or computer among the topics. The age limit for general applicants is maximum 28 years and minimum 20 years. However, there is a relaxation of 10 years for applicants with disability, 3 years for other backward classes, and 5 years for SC/ST.

The recruitment of the IBPS PO/MT is conducted once in a year. In 2012, the recruitment was offline but since the common written examination is conducted online, the recruitment is currently online. For the recruitment of the IBPS PO, along with the five common tests, there is a test for English composition including an essay, letter writing and other tests for an hour with maximum grades of 25. The total time of the exam is around 210 minutes with maximum grades of 250.

The IBPS result is declared online at The applicants who pass successfully the common written examination during the month of October and November of each year are called to attend the interview scheduled in January on the following year.
