This past week saw me in West Chester, OH,  preparing and competing in the 2011 World Disabled Water Ski Championships.

Starting Thursday, August 18th, the US Team met for 4 days in Harrison, OH for a Team training camp, then checked into the Cincinatti Marriott North in West Chester. We had site familiarization on Wed August 25th where we were able to get some practice on the site.

On Thursday, the prelimeraries started and I ran a pretty good slalom run, starting with my opening pass at 26.7mph (43K), then 28.9mph (46K, and finally getting 3 buoys at 30mph (49k), placing me 13th in the World and in the top 3 of skiers using the mid-buoy course.

Later on, I jumped a 57 foot (17.4 meters) jump at 32mph (51k), landed and skiied away. (The US Team used that jump (anything over 50 feet is good score) for the Team score.

I then went to 34mph on my second attempt, bounced into the ramp, came off and my ski pointed like a laser straight down into the water, snapping my ski in half, my helmeted head meeting face to face with it for a proper introduction, crashing hard and being checked for concussion, riding back on the deck of the boat, smiling and waving my USA helmet at the crowd....:)

I finished 9th in the World in Mens Sit Ski Jump.

After all was said and done, on Sunday the US Disabled Water Ski Team won the overall World Championships for the second time in a row, the first time in history of the Worlds that has been accomplished. I was fortunate and honored to have been on both Teams.

I have trained hard and was recently recognised as being the only skier from Indiana, let alone Indianapolis, with a great multi-media story on the front page of the Indianapolis Star last Wed, August 24th...how cool is that?

If you find yourself needing a little pick me up, a little motivation, perhaps a smile or even a reason to go on, then take a few minutes to check this great video from Matt Detrich, Indianaplois Star Staff Photographer.

He likes to refer to it as a great feel good story.

I like to think it might help someone someday.

Stay positive, stay focused and don't let anything get in your way!!!!!!!!

I hope that if you do enjoy the story, you might know someone who you would share it with. Please like on your Facebook page, ReTweet it or maybe Google+ it...Thanks!
