Article Marketing

Wikipedia defines article marketing as; "a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace.......Well-written content articles released for free distribution have the potential to increase the business credibility within its market. Also it helps in attracting new clients."

So, by definition, "article marketing" is really advertising. It should be noted that article marketing is a highly effective way of building your business. Whether you are trying to sell a product, a service, or a program, the bottom line is "the bottom line". Creative article marketing can help you to increase your bottom line.

I see A LOT of people posting on walls, saying "I just posted a new blog, check it out". I click the link only to find an advertisement. 100 reasons why I should join your company, use your service, or buy your product. Most blogging sites will, at the very least "smack you on the hand" for this, and a lot of them will kick you off their sites altogether.

When publishing on the internet write articles that have a catchy title, making sure to use relevant keywords, and 250-500 words in the body of your article. Since your goal to create traffic to your site, it is a good idea to incorporate relevant keywords or keyphrases into your article. 2-3% keyword density is what you're aiming for.

Focus on providing information, not selling yourself. Sure, one of the ultimate goals of article marketing is to drive traffic to your site so that you can ideally increase your leads or sales, but that doesn’t mean the articles you write should be nothing more than a thinly-veiled sales pitch. Remember, readers are interested in “what’s in it for me?” That’s why your articles need to provide information they can benefit from. Of course, make sure the information you provide in your articles is accurate and timely. After all, it is your brand’s reputation that’s at stake here, so you’d better know what you’re talking about.

Writing and submitting your article is only half of the battle; you also need to spend some time promoting the articles you write. You can do this by sending out Tweets with links to your articles, occasionally linking out to your articles from your blog, and promoting your articles in your monthly newsletter.

Remember, make your article INFORMATIVE, incorporate relevant keywords, know your product/service/program, DON'T sell yourself, and above all else, DON'T submit your article and call it a blog. Creatively and well written articles, with relevant keywords and back links can increase your SEO, and ultimately send more traffic to your site, thereby building your business. Use article submission directories, if necessary, to promote and distribute your article. If needed use editing software and/or article marketing software.
