Some Snakes That Make Excellent Pets For First-Time Pet Owners
Some snake species make great starter pets for newbie reptile owners. These species have generally simple care and maintenance needs and can be tamed. Although snakes in general won’t require frequent feeding, you must ask yourself if you are up to feeding whole mice or rats to your pet snake.
Some snake species that are ideal for starter reptile pets include Ball Pythons, Corn Snakes, King and Milk Snakes. Make sure to get only snakes that are bred in captivity to minimize health risks and possible problems when feeding.
Some popular snake species that WON’T make ideal starter pets for newbies include large constrictors and venomous snakes. These include Burmese pythons and boa constrictors. Red Tailed Boas can be tamed but they can grow in size and strength.
