Shedding in Cats and Dogs
While it is a futile exercise to try to stop shedding in pets, there are ways to reduce the amount of fur in your home. Dogs and cats do shed, and they continue to shed, like humans shedding off skin cells and hairs every day. If you are hypersensitive to pet hair and dander, perhaps a dog or cat may not be the best pet for you, and you are better off getting another species of pet. Having to deal with fur every single day may put a strain on the bond between you and your pet.
There are also so-called hairless breeds of cats and dogs, and many hypersensitive pet owners have been able to cultivate a harmonious relationship with their furballs. These breeds are not really devoid of hair; they have sparse fine hairs that shed less and are easier to maintain.
