Good image quality, but with noise
Achieved in image quality, the K-5 is a good, albeit not a very good rating. That was not in it, lies at the below-average noise performance. In the full view on the monitor with photos only appear to ISO 200 really is free from noise. In A3 the expression Störpixel only above ISO 1600 are visible. A little below average for a 16-megapixel sensor falls from the measured resolution: 1,343 pairs of lines per picture height at ISO 80, ISO 1293 line pairs in 1600. The color reproduction in the laboratory will not be optimal, the average dynamic range. Can convince the other hand, K-5 with its high resolution image in areas with low contrast.

With the Pentax K-5 is correct, who seeks a middle-class DSLR with maximum features, robustness, and configurability. The picture quality is alright, but is in increasing sensitivity to image noise visible soon.
Not quite as robust, but also very well equipped and with the guarantee for a very good image quality: the Nikon D7000, our test winner in the DSLR class of 1,000 €. The camera body, you will receive from about 900 €.
