Does Your Cat Have An Obsession With Food?
A new kitty adopted from the pound or taken in from the streets can understandably have a strong affinity for food. It probably has not had a decent meal in days or weeks. However, there are pet cats that display a strong obsession for food to the extent that it is considered an abnormality.
In the past, wild cats spent a good part of the hunting for prey. Thus, they seldom become overweight or obese because the extra calories are used by the body in their forays. However, the need to hunt has been eliminated as cats became domesticated. Owners are expected to provide for their pet’s nutritional needs every day. A cat does not have to search for prey for his daily sustenance.
If your kitty seems to be constantly hungry even if you have given him the appropriate amount recommended by your vet, this may indicate an underlying problem that needs veterinary intervention.
