You Have To Give A Little To Get A Little

Jun 4th 2011 at 3:55 PM

I receive a lot of calls and e-mails from people who claim to be interested in the programs that I am involved in. There are quite a few who have a sincere interest, but then there are those like someone I'll name Ben who wrote to say:  "I really need immediate results, like within the first 2-4 weeks."

Words like these raise a giant red flag because I know the hardest time to make money is when you desperately need money.

The hope you can cure a lifetime of financial issues in a week or two just by enrolling in a program is a formula for frustration. A home business is a business, not a job or the winning lotto ticket; there are no guarantees.

The funny thing is, if you went to a business consultant and asked, 'How long after I open my doors for business should I expect to turn a profit?' you will be told, 'Two to five years on average.'

Why do we tend to believe a home business has a magical quality that can make money fall from the sky in hours or days? There is no easy answer but the way home business is advertised is a big part of it; almost all ads promise fast wealth with little or no work.

Equally at fault is the 'desperation' factor that makes so many believe instant wealth with no skills, no budget and no personal commitment is possible. I know, because I was desperate when I began working from home many years ago, and I sent every penny I
had to the next best program, and the next best and the next.

Today I remind everyone success from home is, perhaps, more possible than ever before because there are excellent programs available. But, before you commit your money, be sure you understand the program, know exactly what is expected of you, and like and trust the person offering the information.

Realistic expectations are key to success with any program.
