Why team marketing scares me.

Excuse me for swimming against the tide (no pun intended) but team marketing terrifies me.

Call me old fashioned, call me a stick in the mud or just plain boring, but I have this crazy notion that Internet Marketing is about selling real products to real people to solve real problems.

Now I have nothing against the concept of team marketing.  Theoretically a group of individuals working together on an equal footing for a common goal is way more powerful than an individual working alone.

In theory my football team should have/could have won twice as many Premierships(championships) as they have.  In theory I could have played lead guitar for a professional rock band.  Theory often relies upon a perfect world.

Internet Marketing is far from a perfect world.

Let's consider the psychology of the team marketing approach.

It's all about the money.  Nothing else and it's reliant upon everybody pitching in AND its reliant upon constant growth - as soon as the thing goes backwards there's nothing to fall back on, because no one even knows what the product is or does.

The promises that mlm growth teams make are founded on constant growth.

Think about it.

They appeal to a section of Internet Marketing hopefuls looking for an easy way.

Everything is good until the next shiny glitzy even easier team marketing model is launched and everyone jumps on board that leaving the existing team floundering and imploding.

Its scary because that's when people get nasty.  And when people who have been promoting the pay plan and nothing but the pay plan may have some legal problems.

Does it matter to me?

Yes, because some of the products being marketed by these teams are quality products that may have their reputation tarnished when the teams do ultimately fail.

Seriously there are no easy ways.  Internet Marketing is about selling real products to real people.

The sooner everybody realizes that the better.

My sentiments exactly. Focus should be on product for long term results.
