What is the difference between your business and opportunity?

It didn't occur to me until I worked in traditional marketing and promotions that a business and an opportunity are different. I think the lines or the differences are blurred because the words when used in the fields of MLM and affiliate marketing are used together or in place of each other depending on the understanding of the marketer/promoter.

Two years ago I worked for a company that marketed and promoted AT&T services; I wore AT&T authorized shirts to promote the brand. Anyone who saw me thought  I was employed by AT&T when I in fact was in employed by USMP.  USMP business is marketing and promoting AT&T services while it provides people like myself an opportunity to work for them marketing and Promoting AT&T.

As professionals in the mlm and affiliate marketing field our business is marketing and promoting the products and services for the company we choose to represent while our opportunity is our offer to other people to do the same thing. Our business is also to promote ourself  as the best in marketing and promotions as we look for people to join our marketing and promotions business.  These distinctions  are important when it comes to developing your business because your income depends on your ability to recruit and train new professional in the mlm and affiliate model of  marketing and promotions.

With this model becoming more mainstream, you have to understand what your business and what your opportunity is in order to focus on what is needed to effectively do both.

This is so true. If you don't bring anything to the table but a few company supplied links or banners, your chances of success are slim to none in today's marketplace.
