Vodafone promises to improve its support services after highest volume of telco complaints
Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) recently announced its promises to improve its customer support and support after its poor performance in cellular phone services in the last year.
VHA intends to have 1500 sites inside new 850MHz network by mid-next year and can introduce an individual contact system that monitors Vodafone’s contact centre, Twitter, Facebook accounts and e-forum.

According on the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman’s (TIO) 2011 Annual Report, new complaints about Vodafone mobile services almost tripled in 2010-2011.
“Vodafone mobile services almost tripled in 2010-11 to 32,744. They peaked in January 2011 which has a total of 5,712 new complaints, coinciding together with the provider’s much publicised network and customer care issues,” the report reads.
TIO learned that Vodafone's network issues was one of several significant causes on the increase in complaints about mobile phone devices.
“[The] spike in complaints about mobile services was largely brought on by two critical factors: Vodafone’s network issues plus the increased business of smartphones,” the report reads.
Ombudsman Simon Cohen said within a statement that customers are not only annoyed by “mobile telephone problems, but by deficient support services and complaint handling.”
Will Vodafone find a way to turn it around?
Despite the improvement in complaints, VHA has 900 sites have a home in new the 850MHz network designed for smartphones and data, and 2000 sites from the existing network are already replaced with new equipment.
Vodafone’s CEO, Nigel Dews, said in a very statement the corporation is “bringing customers a network which provides better indoor coverage, faster downloads as well as a stronger signal than before.”

TRAI had asked Vodafone to submit a compliance report by March 10. Asking for additional time to submit the report, Vodafone stated that ’111' will be used by its subscribers for support service, and yes it was difficult to halt its easy use in 10-12 days.”
Apparently the difficulty came into light on February 2 when TRAI had issued a show cause notice on Vodafone for violating the National Numbering Plan. In respond to TRAI’s notice, Vodafone had said that ’111' number was a student in use by them over the past 20 years where there was no restriction on its use because number had been under valid use just before 2003 as being a common support like Tata sky customer care number and Vodafone across all of the circles. Department of Telecom had issued the ‘National Numbering Plan 2003' wherein the numbers from 111 to 115 just weren't to be given for just about any type of services and they also had been kept as ‘spare’.
