Think b4 taking the plunge into Internet Marketing

Sep 11th 2010 at 12:06 AM

Many of us are tired of working for a boss, especially an XXX-hole boss. After searching around, Internet Marketing seems to be a viable alternative to the regular 9-5 job. But wait, have you really look carefully at some of the realities of earning a living through Internet Marketing? Do you have the right mindset for an Internet Marketer?

(1) How do you get started? Read, read and read all about running an online business, or buy a course of Internet Marketing. Fine, but are you sure you will get the real deal? Very often what you paid for are out-dated materials and the authors or coaches do not live up to their promises to teach you the exact steps of setting up and maintaining an online business. They will collect your money and let you struggle on your own.

(2) The income is not stable like your previous job where you received your pay check on the dot of payday of each month. Here sometimes you have more jobs than you can cope with, but at times you do not receive any job. Unless you are seasoned and have many streams of income where you can manage them strategically to provide you with a somewhat steady residual income, otherwise you will find yourself without income for some periods because you will receive your payment the next month due to the way you set your minimum payout value.

(3) Are you a self starter and can work independently? Don't believe the advertisements of some internet marketers which claim that they have money rolling in while they relax lazily at some tropical beaches. As an internet marketer, you have to constantly update your websites, your products and keep in touch with your users and mentor, if any. If you don't do this, you will be lagging behind, and finally forgotten. So will your online business.

(4) Do you like sitting long hours in front of the PC? If you don't, my advice is find another alternative instead of Internet Marketing.

Hi Benson ... what you say in your article is so true! Even going into internet marketing with your eyes wide open is extremely challenging because of all the different "hats" you're required to wear to be successful. It's not for the faint-hearted, that's for sure! People need to be aware of this ... thanks for posting!

Thank you for your comment,Bulmer.I only wish the new comers will enter the arena with a sober mind. Remember when we first rushed, starry eyed, into IM about a decade back? How we stmbled along and got scammed all the way...LOL

Hello, Benson: This is very wise advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, telling them to think before plunging into Internet Marketing. I appreciate the four points you have highlighted and I certainly agree that a person should devote time to research before jumping in, and do not believe the tales that suggest it is easy. There is definitely a learning curve and daily action is required to maintain a level of home business income. :-)
